Caught up with old mate today from an SES crew in the Adelaide Hills. Very interesting actually. They had a full compliment of Husky saws then the local Husky dealer closed. They've now gone to Stihl saws (MS192T, MS181, MS251, MS362, + an old 034 that somehow got in there).
The new guy who has taken over the chainsaw side of things really had his work cut out for him. They have 3/8"LP .043", 3/8" .050", .325" .058", .325" .063", 3/8" .058", and 3/8" .063" chains in various lengths spread from arsehole to breakfast. Bascially there is crap everywhere. Somebody at some time must have thought it would be a great idea to buy 200' of Oregon 75DP (3/8" .058" Bumper Link Safety Chain) and make a few loops up as well. Well I think they had about 180' left and don't want to use it anymore as I converted all their 365/372 saws to .063". I ended up exchanging about 160' of 75DP for about 90' of Stihl 36RM. Not sure if it was a smart move or not but if anybody wants some cut price 75DP let me know
I also ended up with a heap of other loops that they can't use and understandably they don't want unuseable loops there as it just adds to the confusion. We found .063" chains jammed in .058" bars and the works. Quite an eye opener!
I also had a call from a mate tonight chasing a new nose for a 20" 3/8" .063" Tsumura. He bought one of my ported 660's off me a while back (not imagineero on AS but another guy) and it threw the whole sprocket out yesterday arvo while cutting firewood. Bearings, teeth, everything gone! He's catching me this week so I'll post some photos. He doesn't abuse his gear either so it will be interesting to see it. I have a few spare noses here and he's going to grab one. This is one of the more recent Tsumuras too that have the upgraded nose.
