Believe it or not, I actually traded for this saw about a year ago. It looked terrible, but it had a brand new Oregon 20" bar/chain on it so I made the trade. I don't even remember what I traded for it.

The previous owner said it had been left out in a field (forgotten is more like it). He said that ants had gotten in it. I think it was more like they used it as the bones of the new ant mound! I stuck it in the corner and forgot about it. Well, today I decided to get it out on the bench and see what was there. It looks pretty ugly on the outside. See pictures.

So I got a steel bristle brush, turned on the water hose, and gave her a bath. After covering up the carb with a latex glove, a liberal application of purple power degreaser, and some serious elbow grease, she came pretty clean. I really did take some serious scrubbing to get that dirt off of the jug fins.
The piston was frozen, but broke free with just a little bit of get down and some WD-40. I think she might make it will a little bit of TLC. She might make a good stump saw. I don't know why I torture myself like this......More to come.....

Sadly, I have to report that the Dirt Dog went into a "parts box". The P&C look fine, but the carb is shot.

I have other, nicer saws to work on, so I am going to shift my efforts over to one of them.

But hey, I am not complaining. I got a brand new 20" bar/chain out of the deal that I can put on another saw.
