Hey Lawrence, I did email you a few weeks back but I don't remember hearing back from ya! No worries though. And, I sent it from my gmail account, which I never have before with you, so maybe your email blocked it because it was unfamiliar or something.

Definitely wouldn't hurt to send another though, plenty to talk about since then even I suppose!

Hehe... I have no problems with lockouts, buddy! But I still manage to bugger myself once in a while... Today I burned myself pretty good with the torch. I was cutting a piece of I-beam from an old rollcase out in the boneyard today, and when it fell it deflected the flame straight into my hand. Which normally wouldn't be a huge issue, except that my heavy full-leather welding gloves were soaking wet from welding in the rain for half the afternoon yesterday, so I had them in drying out on the lunchroom heater (it was only 7°C here this morning). So I was using regular old cloth-backed work gloves. It burned right through the glove and did its damage before I had a chance to move. :( Guess a couple thousand degrees will do that!

Initially it didn't really hurt much at all, then it hurt like HELL for about an hour, and now it is painless again. I know it WILL hurt though. Just trying to keep it moisturized with Polysporin so it doesn't crack. The flame was so hot it dried the skin right out when it burned it, so there's not really a blister as such. The surface of the skin feels like heavily calloused skin now.

At least I have a nurse around now to keep me fixed up, eh Lawrence? ;) She hasn't seen it yet though...

So I'm just presuming here... But did you actually type a "d" instead of a "k" there, and the AS censor gods didn't like it? LOL... I didn't know compressors could do that... :)

Holy ####!!!! How did I miss that? I always do a edit scan before posting... oh well, one gets away from me every now and then...

That must've been why this tool forum has been dead for the past week or so... :biggrinbounce2:

Hope that burn heals up well quickly... I hate burns... more than skinned knuckles and small lacerations on the hands and arms from wrenching on cars and garden tractors...

Seems like everything I work on needs at least one blood sacrifice in order for me to complete the job. :censored:

Bunch of tools

I have a guy who I buy tools from. Mostly older stuff, all professional duty and in good shape. This week i picked up another Sawzall for my buddy, an S-K 3/8" ratchet, Craftsman low profile metric wrench set, 6" Utica adjustable, nice made in USA drill bit set and a 55 Rancher. Then I told him we do scrap. He then gave me some steel and 2 boxes of scrap...but most of it was more tools! When I got home I went thru them all. I found: some bridgeport stuff, 2 Mics (one digital), Skil Jigsaw, a few squares, 2 big pipe dies (I think) and other stuff. If you guys can ID more please do!

This saw is mint. Runs great too.

Too funny!! I had a similar score this morning at an estate yard sale. I'll throw some pictures up here in a few. Probably one of the best scores I've had ever. I got it all for a song.

Brad M

That nurse you know will come in handy in your line of work that's for sure!I hate burns Brad.My worst though was a steam burn from when I was about 18 or 20 years old.I was on a clean up crew and to make very hot water we had a cold water tap and steam tap, turn on the cold and then turn on the steam and you could make it real hot.It would take to long to explain exactly what happened but the steam just rolled the skin up on the top of my hand, ouch.
Sorry about the email thing, your right I had read that email I think.

Tools for Joe-Again!

Man, Joe you sure know how to haul that stuff in,another good score, congrats.I did all right my self a couple of weekends ago,I'm just so lazy at posting pictures.Have faith though I'll get some up on here.

This guy worked in construction, and knew his tools. All the hand tools are old American, and really sweet.

I'd list it all, but I'd get a hand cramp.

The Makita router is brand new. The old AC tombstone welds really nice for an old girl. . . I can hold a pretty dang tight arc, and she keeps going -- and that was with 7018.

Old Tools- Nate

Hey Nate quite the haul you got there! I think as the generation before us gets older and no longer has any use for these tools, or their kids don't have any use for them, more are going to become available for purchase.Lot's of familys were the children never went into the trades like their fathers.

Yup, darn sad too. Pretty soon people won't know how to tie their shoes, let alone use a tool.

Anyone got new tools coming in soon?

I've got an Ingersoll-Rand QTiMax 2135 1/2" drive impact wrench on the way... it should be here in a couple of weeks... :blob2:

I read countless reviews on the thing, and I have concluded it to be the best and most top end impact you can get.

I bought the 'quiet' version, which is about 96 db's compared to 110 for the regular version... that right there should make it a bit nicer for the guys working in the shop around me. Hell, 110 db's is a lot... even my deaf ass...

I also read some reviews on the top end Aircat (which is half the price of the IR) but the lack of longevity reviews turned me away.

Several guys mentioned that every one in their shop runs one of these IR's, and they don't ever oil them... nor grease them... and they still last 2-3 or sometimes more years with use every day, hammering away at bolts and such. That's what I'm looking for, and given that I do take decent care of my tools, it should last much longer.

You know it's a good gun if it takes bolts and nuts off of semi trucks... several of the reviews in NT mentioned that. I bought mine from amazon... so it was much cheaper than NT... I noticed NT went from 290 or so and shot up to 330!!! for one of these IR's. For that much, shopping at amazon, I also got the two cords I needed for my Magnum Holeshooters and an extra chuck key, and also a boot to protect the top part of the IR... and some other crap that I needed/wanted/gotta haved/etc.

So, I will have another toy to run off of that big ass air compressor...

I had a impact gun at work, that lasted me 15 years, that's full time use, 5 days a week, all year every year. Its a IR gun, but with a Napa name on it.

That's why I'm going with IR... they are probably the absolute best you can get... plus they cost less than Snap-On, etc. which aren't as good.

Yep... I am going to say those that go to trade schools/technical centers will be much better off than those that don't... hands-on skill and experience is priceless, and definitely increases their chances of survival after, well, let's not get into that.

slowp doesn't like my 'doomsday' talk...
