There is no other OEM carburetor as the HD-50 from the factory.

Next time order several kits. You know you’ll need another down the roadUpdate. Put a squirt of fuel in the carb intake and it ran for a couple seconds and died. I feel happier now. I think my next step will be to wait for Santa to bring me a carb kit
i have 6 early Husky carbs to rebuild so ordered 10 kits.

IPL shows HD-50, HD-51 as OEM carb. HD-17 is 044/MS440 carb. I suspected this was the case but wanted to double check.
Thanks! Guess I’ll rebuild this one and see how it goes. I know the 440 is a cheap crappy saw but that’s the carb it has
440 is a good saw, HD-17 has a slightly smaller venturi than the HD-50. Can always throw a HD-50 on it down the road after you get the saw up and running if you feel like it.

Put a kit in it. Just put it in the way the other came out. Maybe.
If it is flooding could be somebody rebuilt it and put the metering diaphragm under the gasket.
Could be the needle set too high.
Or, could be the diaphragm is just stiff and laying on the needle.
Or, the needle just stuck, or end messed up.
Any of that easily corrected.
