My 3 saw plan is actually 4 saws, has a narrower range than most, but are of the size I need the most. The ported 362 with a 20" bar works great as my small saw, and can do some bucking if need be, my ported 046 is an animal with a 24" bar, and really speeds up bucking good sized wood (and I plan to get a larger bar in the future 28 or 32 light), and the two 044s are good to have if you are doing a combo of limbing & bucking, so I often take one of them if I have to take just one saw into a remote location.

For 18 years I just had the one 044 and did everything with it, but it is nice to have a smaller and larger saw, respectively, to better suit the situation.

I sold my MS261XB...... :(

But I replaced it a 346XP NE by Wigglesworth. First ported saw I've ever owned that someone else ported. Well......first one that I'm not gonna redo.

Then I have a MS362C, 3 MS460s, 2 064s, and a MS660. And other brands.......and stuff.

Wait........that's more than three huh?

I usually carry 4 or 5 saws when I cut firewood, and firewood is the main reason why I have more than one saw. Saws are:
MS361 -20" bar
o41 -16" bar
021 -14" bar
o2ot -14" bar
Echo 360t -12" bar
I cut standing dead timber, mostly red oak (because it is readily available) usually in the 8" to 20"diameter range, sometimes larger. I like the smaller saws for limbing, use the 361 and 041 for bucking, and the top handle saws are also used for tree work. I also carry a HT 131 sometimes for special cutting problems. One problem I use the pole saw for is getting into the osage orange trees that grow around here. They grow like large bushes with interlocking branches and long tire puncturing thorns. The pole saw will get in between the branches and allow me to cut branches off near the trunk of the tree and escape unpunctured.
I like to try to run all the saws some on each trip to prevent carb problems caused by stale ethanol gas.
