What bar do you run on your MS360 pro? Just picked one up and it has a 20" on it. I have not had a chance to put it in wood yet but the 20" seems like it would be perfect. Also .....i know the 036 has a great following as does the 361 & 362....how does the 360 stack up?

I don't have one ,but 18" or 20" seems like it would be just about right.
I run 18" on my MS310 which probably has a little less hp than your 360 and it is just right.

Thanks....fixed it......does a muff mod make a big difference on this saw?

MM on 360? If it has the small exhaust port then yes, if it has bigger exhaust port, then not so much.

Small exhaust port about 3/8 or 11mm, big is about 5/8 or 16mm

It went from big to small port in 1995

Pretty sure he meant the 360PRO.

360PRO - loved it. 361 just a hair better, 362 - not as much, wish i had one of the two previous again. Ran/run a 20" on all of them.

My 034AVS takes its 20-inch B&C buried in hardwood, sweats from the armpits and crotch and asks for more.

As for the 036/360/361/362, oh ####, just forget about it. How many 60cc Stihl models have to be released once the wheel has been perfected???? :yoyo:

My 036 Pro has worn everything from a 16" to a 32". Right now it's wearing a 20", and in spite of everything, is still probably my 2nd favorite saw. Oh, and it's far from stock. I have another topend waiting for when I blow this one up, but I don't see that happening soon. Luckily I have other saws that want attention.

20" is longer than ideal, but still OK. I would probably use 15-16" most of the time, on a 360, as I do on the 361.

This is more about balance than about power though.

We run a 18" bar on our 361 with a 8 pin sprocket instead of the seven pin.
It really handles it well. You can tell the 8 pin on the 18" gives you a faster cut than the seven pin and the saw has the power to handle it.

You must excuse Mr. Troll, in Europe they believe trees have four sides, as opposed to us in the US that believe they have two sides. They run 13" bars on 50cc saws, 16" on 60cc's, and 18" on 70cc saw, and they don't believe any tree is large enough to require a 20" or bigger.

On my 036 I run a 20" 3/8" .050 chain and I have been using a lot of Windsor Speed tip bars recently. The paint is cheap, but the metal seems to hold up well. I do this set up so I can swap chains between my Stihl saws and my Husqvarna's.

360 = 036 My favorite firewood saw with rounds < 20"

20" ES bar with RS/RSC chain.

Sort of agree with Troll here.

On my 036 & 034S (Same saw, if you didnt know) I tend to run 16" most of the time. Depending upon what Im cutting that day, I might put a 20" on them - and I have even - on very rare occasions, put a 25" on there, but thats in a ideal situation (ie soft wood like pine, only for a short time etc) as it does seem to bog down a little with anything over 20"

Mr troll, if a 16" is good for a 036 then you must be running 12" on your 50cc Huskys :hmm3grin2orange: They are so light, a 16" would tip the scales!

As far as balance, a 20" ES bar can't be beat on a 036
