what type of wood is this?

Can anyone tell me what kind of wood this is ? My guess is its a Japanese maple but not sure I have a picture of the log and also of the bark. Also can you use it to burn in a stove??

have no idea but I would cut some cookies out of it , use it to make something like a clock or whatever . Love the inside

Sure but after sanding the dry lumber and putting polyurethane on it will still have some nice color and pattern.

I was just wondering because some of the beetle kill spruce is pinkish inside, but it soon fades away. Nice colour and figure in the box elder.

Nice stack, but I hope you didn't go out of your way to get it. Heh, I got a few mixed in with my maple when clearing a grove, does not split that great and feels pretty light. Will be leving the stuff if I see it again.

Well I was at the in laws today and they wanted some of the trees cut up along there property and there were some that were already laying down I had no clue what it was till I posted on here and found out.
