When to upgrade or replace ropes

When do You replace or upgrade Your ropes and climbing gear, At a set time or by the wear and tear on it? I just upgraded alittle went from a 120' arborplex with split tail to a 150' treepro red with beeline pussik, Old rope is still very usable just wanted something different

I always wind up my own ropes. Both climbing and rigging.
It lets me put every inch of rope thru my hands for inspection.
As far as what passes and what don't,,,my first instinct has done me well thru the years.

If in doubt,throw it out.
