i have a 029 stihl i replaced the engine the cylinder was bad .all the fuel and oil lines were in good shape checked the intake boot it was also good . everything seemed in order couple of pulls and it started wide open and stalled went back over everything same thing choke on pull wide open then stall everything by the book we never touched the carbs at all any ideas would help thanks

Assuming the carb/linkage is not stuck wide open, you’ve got a big air leak somewhere that you’re overlooking.

You need to pressure test it if you can’t find it with a visual inspection.

“Everything by the book” tells me you have the Stihl service manual.

yes i have a service manual that makes sense and the linkage is free i just don't have the test equipment but maybe can fab up something

I'm asking because I've done this, did you put the metal ring inside the intake boot and the metal ring over the end of the intake boot before you put the carb on?

The new engine was complete? New crank seals and the pan on the bottom of the engine was sealed?

Then I would agree with hotshot, next step is to start vac and pressure testing and find out where the leak is.

Was this an oem kit or aftermarket? If it's an aftermarket kit the bottom end is likely not sealed properly. I've have several and they all had bad air leaks.
