You did a super job with that. Polyshades can be tough to work with. I stained all the trim in the house with the Pecan. It turned out fine...but, I'll go a different route next time.

I agree... I have used and still have some Polyshades, basically polyurethane combined with a stain. However, it can be difficult to get the stain evenly on some wood, and unless you thin it the effect is sometimes to give to much of a "thick" look. For something like that Maple Polyshades on relatively light wood though it works OK. It sure worked well on your project. However, for most hardwood if I'm going to stain (I usually don't) I will stain first, and then apply the clear coat of polyurethane on top of that if I'm going that route. Poly takes so long to dry though that it's hard to keep dust off of it. I usually use Danish oil followed with lacquer to finish my wood.
