Picked up a couple of trunk pieces by the side of the road and split 'em up. I think someone else scrounged the smaller pieces and didn't think they could split the trunk.

What does this look like to you?

Freakin' elm.Smells like a stale mule fart?
It is a bit pungent. I thought elm too, but it split easier than I expected. And the last time I posted a picture of wood like this saying it was elm, I had people telling me it wasn't. So this time I'm asking first before I jump to conclusions.

I just got some of that last week and it split easy too. burns okay when dried 'bout 2 years or maybe less.

should have left it
Hey, free wood is free wood. Even if it is only two sections.

It did smell strong, but I put that down to it being wet through and through. We're having spring thaw here and it was sitting in a puddle of melting snow.

Ash makes sense. There are what look like bug holes in a couple of pieces, now that I look closer, and spray paint on the bark where someone marked it for cutting.
