Had some crazy summer wind this week and sadly lost 3 feet of crown off my once 9 foot yellow popular. Sadly it had some amazing growth so far this year about 1.5 feet or more. Not sure what to do at this point. I don't thinking grafting the crown back on is an answer for this type of tree. The next branch is about 12 inches down. There are some potential bud spots that might come out next year above that, but they didn't come out this year so not sure about those.

Basically, my question is how do I get the crown/ central main stem to grow again. Or is the tree at a loss at this point and should i just plant a new one. The crown is about 1 inch in diameter at the break. Thanks to anyone that can help

Thanks for the help. The first pic I splinted the broken crown on so you could get an idea how much came off.

THere is a small nob right below the break in the above photo.

The reason this thing was weak and broke at that spot was because a small branch had broken off at that location about two week prior. Thanks again for your time.
