Actually the 7900 bests the 262 in the power to weight measurement.
How accurate is dolmar in there weight and hp claims?

The factory hp and weight specs are impressive but rarely accurate. Here is the weight to hp ratio of the 262 XP as found by DLG:
Gewicht, mit Schneidgarnitur 37 cm 6,8 kg
Gewicht ohne Schneidgarnitur 5,8 kg
Leistungsgewicht mit 37 cm Schneidgarnitur 1,9 kg/kW
Leistungsgewicht ohne Schneidgarnitur 1,6 kg/kW

Power Weight with 37 cm cutting equipment 4.1lb/hp
Power Weight without cutting equipment 3.5lb/hp

Best saw ever..............no contest!

Light, powerful, easy to work on, good AV, automatic oiler with manual over-ride and completely bulletproof.
Tougher than an ex mother-in-law and as reliable as the sunrise!

Thanks Ohio Gregg for the use of this great pic.

To me the best saw is the one that always runs & cuts when you need it too. If it can't do that its not worth all the horsepower in the world. For me its not about all the numbers. That's why when I went looking to spend my personal money on a saw I researched what people said was the most dependable and it seems that the 028 got a lot of votes in that department.

If I was only allowed one saw for my life I would go with an 046. Well-built and can cut handle anything I would want to cut down.

I obviously don't have access to a dyno to know the true HP figures, but I have weighed the saws. The difference wasn't huge, but it did tilt in the 7900's favor.

+1 for the 7900 just on sheer #'s. I'll let you know next week if they're worth all the hooplah...
