    Milled a piece of Mulberry

From what little I have messed with mulberry, sunlight is the main cause for darkening. keep it away from light as much as possible. Mulberry changes color more than anything else I have messed with, will turn a nice "berry" brown / root beer color over time.

    Very Large White Oak

This tree makes the big oak I found last week look like a toothpick. It looks like a job for a swingmill for sure. Scott did you see the picture that was on page 1 ?

It must be spring in the northern hemisphere?

I saw that when the olympics started it was snow on the ground in 49 of the 50 US states, Florida even had snow. And Canada was looking for snow.:dizzy: This has been one of the colder and snowier winters we had in a long time. 60 for saturday though :)

    Electric or gas band mill

I have a 10hp electric on mine and I have no clutch. I just let it run. Is that the way I wish it was ? nope. I dont know if my motor would hold up to a bunch of restarts ? I have had to have the capicators replaced several times on my planer motor and was told frequent restarts could be to...

    some wood boring buddies...?

I am not sure about turning blanks, but for 4/4 lumber the way to kill bugs is to heat the kiln to a min of 130* for 24 hours. I guess you could build a small insulated box and heat the bowl after you turn it ? Wouldnt take many light bulbs hooked to a thermostat to heat a small box. Not sure...

    Stickers

With a tablesaw , using wood that is cupped/bowed raises the kickback potential. Run the 2x across a jointer first.

    Alternate Band saw mill?

I had a friend call me last week, telling me that he was doing work for a guy that was using one of these saws and rebuilding pallets and how nice the saw was. He also said the guy paid 17000.00 for the saw. As for why tear apart pallets, I doubt they saw up good pallets. If they have...

    My Bandmill Build Thread

My wheels look just like those too but I didnt get a good of a deal as you did. ( Hey Grainger... :buttkick: ) I run my angle at an L shape instead of looking like a rooftop like you show. It fit the grove in the wheel good , but now the wheels are not true round anymore, they have a flatspot...

    Holly?

The one holly I sawed didnt come out as white as I wanted. I am thinking if it was sawed in winter instead of summer it would be easier to keep it white

    Newbie setting up Alaskan mill

I mill with an old 394 husky and like it. I also use a stihl for general cutting. Seems to me the husky's air filter stays cleaner than the stihl's ?

Our own Market place for exotic wood?

Try to keep the grain as close to *90 as you can , with sycamore you dont have to get but a couple degrees away from 90 to lose the rays.
