    Late Summer Vacation

I would certainly be interested in seeing their operation. Is hootowl enacted to prevent fires due to dry conditions? Right now we have had to move the date up to the middle of Sept. I hope things will still be in operation. Would Morton be anywheres close to Madsen's store?

    Carlton bar

Check to be sure that Bailey's sent you the right gauge bar for the chain you are using. Had a guy here in Ohio try to run .058 gauge chain on a .050 gauge bar.:dizzy:

    low-impact logging

Yup, it's 9-1/2 cents to 10 cents per board foot. Some will charge $400 per day working by the day, but don't think their day hours are the same as yours. They have to hire a driver with a stock trailer to bring them on the job and pick them up Though their day may start at 7:00AM they may not...

    low-impact logging

Well said Slowp. Here in the midwest you can hire amish folks that will skid your logs out with horses, but you need to do your math before you agree to hire them. Most of them would work for .095 to .10 cents per board foot and on the average, they will only be able to skid out about 6000...

    Is this worth considering?

61 trees Well, the last job I cut I had 61 trees to cut. I was able to have them all on the ground in 6-1/2 hours scaling out at 15000 bd ft; however, the conditions were right, flat ground, average dia about 26" and trees grouped fairly close together. Everything was skidded out the same day...

    fundamentals

Fiber Pull I've seen some Amish fallers cut where they have no stump shot whatsoever. They'll make their notch, then bore into the face, severing the heart fibers and leave about 3" of holding wood at each end, then they continue the cut back around to complete the back cut, cutting off the...

Hang in there Burv. Seems like we all have to experience lows along with the highs. I think Cody says it best with the remark he has in the bottom of his postss where it says "Tough times never last, but tough people do". Later man.
