    Want to Buy Mac 895

Looking to buy a replacement fuel tank cover for my 895. The cover on it now has a small dent/crease which has cracked so the tank leaks, and I don't want to make a half-baked repair/mess out of it so I'd rather just replace the cover with a good used one. Please let me know if anyone has one...

Gtg? ProMac610, I hate to sound like an ignoramus, but what's a gtg? Hey my first ever Mac was a 605 factory recon. I still use it regularly and it has been an excellent saw over the approximate 18 years I have owned it. Your idea of making a sleeper-saw is intriguing! I think it...

You read my mind! I'd like to powder coat it all. Can you hook me up with the right color mix? I have the Eastwood tool so would get my supplies from them. Maybe I could mix up some of thier colors?

1-43 Cleaning Few more! That's all for now, I promise! DieselSmoke, Yea, I need a new clutch drum as the sprocket is really worn badly. Just for giggles I've thought about tigging the grooves full of metal and then grinding them back to shape, but it's prolly not something worth...

New to Me 1-43 Winner of the Cruddiest Fuel Tank Contest! Well, my $40 1-43 arrived! While it's definitely filthy, and one of the most gunked-up fuel tanks I've ever dealt with, the piston/cylinder are in very nice shape, so the rebuild will consist of new rings and a pass or two through the...

    Revised Mini-Mill

Beautiful Job! Jerry, You have done an excellent fab job on your mini mill. I too am considering building versus buying both a mini and a full-size 36" Alaskan type mill, so I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to share detailed pictures and explanations of your very nice...

Promac - Hey, I resemble that remark! However that "family sedan" in my case is a late 60's, large displacement "beer burner & ricer" eater! The old addage, "there's no replacement for displacement" comes to mind. Lots of the younger "hot rodders" have never rebuilt a carburetor, let alone...

Gasket and varnish removal One of the easiest, and least expensive methods I've used to do this type of clean-up is spray-on oven cleaner. It softens the gaskets so that with a Plastic scraper (orange ones from Harbor Freight work great) they come right off. May require a second application to...

Betterbuilt, I want to build a pole barn style workshop, and then see where it goes from there. Wouldn't mind milling lumber for others for profit if I could, but moreso for my own needs/projects, with the hope that I can build upon the basics as I progress. I love the outdoors, woodworking...

CSM VS BSM - Sounding More like Ford VS Chevy every Day! Well, being totally new to this, I'm trying to differentiate the fly poop from the pepper, and it's getting harder by the minute. Some say that if you are going through the trouble of building a mill, you might as well make it a BSM...

McCulloch 895 in a ProCut Mill

Okay, while I am a "Newbie" at this milling "Hobby", I've decided my approach will be to start with an Alaskan Mini Mill plus a 36" Mark III Alaskan mill. I've had a 605 with a 20" bar for about 10 years now and I love it. It's certainly not the saw I need for the Mini Mill (not enough...

Lil' Help for a Newbie CS Miller

Ok, I finally got a return phone call from Granberg tonight. I want to start milling and was looking for advice on using my old Monster Saw - a Mac 895! It's got a solid 37" bar (no Wheel) and for those unfamilair with this oldie but goodie, it runs a gear reduction from a 103cc engine. The...

It's funny, but my idea of a restoration is to make it look like new, you know strip all the parts to bear metal, and refinish them nicely, and so on. Well I've had some guys tell me that the original "Patina" showing all the dents and scrapes looks best, and is what makes it retain it's...

895 Info Leeha, Yes mine does have the compression release, but I'm thinking that it's froze up because it makes no difference when pulling the cord as to what you do with the compression release. No matter what it has excellent compression that kicks back at you pretty good when pulling the...
