The money is burning in my pocket already  .

well go ahead and put the fire out!

the 346xpNE is the finest 50cc saw ever produced!

:)

especially when they cut like an MS440.

I was faced with this decision early last week.....the 5100 was the only other saw I really considered, and the price difference wasn't enough to sway me from the NE346xp.

That saw rocks! After the first day on the jobsite I asked the guys if there was anything they didn't like about it. "Yeah", they said, "We only have one of them."

bull ****

You never ran a 440 and a stock 046 handed that 346 it's arse(as it should). You might want to get a pipe for that saw if you want to run with the big fellers. Go ahead and post the stock 044 video, but also post the 046 and ported 460. I timed my stock 440 in the same log and it ran 11.0. Why not put a insanely long bar, like B dog, on that 346 next time? That is where you will see the bigger cc's pull hard.

i picked up a 260pro the other day and couldn't believe how heavy it FELT.

must be built strong,

heavy is good, heavy is reliable, if you run out of bullets you can throw it at them!!!

346XP over the 353 for the same reason that you bought a 372XP over a 365....MORE!!!

Its likely that both will be CAT equipped when you buy, so it might be prudent to change mufflers.

i have run a stock 440 plenty. try again. i also didnt need to run one because the stopwatch told the story, 13+ seconds.

i only want my 346 to run a 16" bar. just run the 20" for slappin' 026's back up on the porch or maybe even a 5100 if somebody with one had big enough onions to put their saw where their mouth is.

as i recall the stock 460 cut 11.9 seconds and your built 460 cut 8.3 seconds. that is exactly a 30% gain and very common for a good woods ported saw. you must have one hella' "stock" 440.

to refresh your memory seeing its failing:

built 460 8.3
stock 460 11.9
stock redmax621 12.9
built 346 13.0
stock 044 13+
stock 361 14.6

how you got a stock 440 to run 11.0 in an undocumented run is beyond me!

:monkey:

The local dealer is a Husky/echo/redmax guy. The stihl guy is a tool :dizzy: . Wanted a 50 cc class saw for the two saw plan-even though I have a few more than that. I want a reliable, forgiving ssaw, and was worrried that the 346 might not be, as some have written that the 353 has greater power range (nice torque), while the 346 has a narrower sweet spot.

Its one or the other, so you guys will be chooosing the saw :) .

LOL, I have not seen it kick a 361's arse yet............

a stock 046 handed that 346 it's arse(as it should).

help me out here.

let me see if i got this strait,

when a 60cc saw beats a 60cc saw by more than 10% its not an arse kickin'.

when a 76cc saw beats a 50cc saw by less than 10% its a stihl arse kickin'???

ill give you credit 2K, you keeping beating the drum, even if it is a little out of tune. ill have to send Master THALL a PM to adjust your strings.

LMFAO!

i think you dealer in confusing the old 346 with the new 346. the power is anything but narrow. i have never run a 353 but what i have read/heard from owner/operators of both is the 50cc 346 have more power at every rpm, revs up faster, have a wider powerband and outcuts the 353 by a good amount.

the 50cc 346 should last longer than the old 346 because it has a limited coil and turns less RPM's.

you will not be happy with yourself if you get the 353, maybe if you didnt find this site you would be OK with the 353.

:)

Gee, man asks about 2 saws and all I see are nothing but variations of the word "butt" through the whole thread. Whats the matter with you guys?! :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

I totally agree - the power-band of the NE346xp is nice and wide, and beats the 353 with a wide margin, at any rpms....:)
