we had a good spectrum of stock saws to base the performance of the saws from.

first is JT78's good running stock benchmark Dolmar PS7900. the saw all others must be measured from.

this was my first time running a 7900 and it did run good indeed. JT67 is shown in the video running the saw. JT67 not only knows how to run a saw but he does mighty fine modifying them as you will see.

here we have the much maligned MS361 from $tihl. a great limbing saw with lackluster performance in big wood.

this is 67 Mustang getting his game on with a good running stock 361. 67 knows how to make a smooth cut ;) , and his sawmanship was remarkable.

all the saws are run in the same poplar log that was very uniform. i did not check the diameter.

Hey guys,

We had a blast yesterday!!! My son talked about you folks all the way home, it was nice of ya'll to let him run the hot saws. But I think I'm in trouble now. He said he would have Oscar ( he named the 394xp) ready for JT next time. He already wants to know when we are going to do this again. It was fun, saw a lot of super good looking, and running saws. I wish I could have run them all but my back was giving me a fit. It's good to see nice people still in this old world that will take the time to help out an talk to a young sprout like Zachary, he wants to learn and you guys are the kind to help him do it.

It was great to meet you all. Thanks for sharing the saws, and fellowship with us. Look forward to next time.

here is one the Stihlheads have been waiting for. 2000ssm6 run Stihls latest and greatest MS211. this saw was very impressive to run. the saw was not broken in yet but had incredible power for its weight. you will see it cut well.

It's great to see a young guy Zachary's age take an interest in saws. I hope he continues and is always welcome at any GTG I come to in the future.

Thanks to both of you for attending, Possum and thanks for the great deal on the little Poulan. Can't wait to get another sprocket on there and check out the filing job JT did on the chain. I was so disappointed I couldn't put it to the wood yesterday that I decided to slice my thumb open on it instead. Seemed sharp to me! There needs to be a little blood letting at one of these things, I think. Yesterday I was the "sacrificial lamb." 'Tis the season.

Thanks to everyone for all they did to make this a great GTG. A special thanks to Amy for her awesome homemade cake and the drinks she brought! I'm just sorry I didn't get a picture of her to post. I hope someone did. Thanks to Possum and JT for bringing the logs. Thanks to everyone for sharing their saws.

Thanks to Tony, Dean & Gail for letting us use their property and "facilities." Glad to see they were busy yesterday. Good to see David there too. More later with a few pic posts - I hope.

After slicing my thumb, raising my blood sugar on cake, and my bp after running some of those "hot saws", especially that 395XP (thanks JT!), I still managed to make it home.

one for the Husky guys!

this is "Oscar", one of the most remarkable saws i have ever seen. you will see i say that about many of possum and lil' possum's saws.

if you didnt notice possum and lil' possum are some big uns'. Zach is a strapping lad that stands about 6"3". i did not get his age but he appeared to be young. this kid can flat out run a saw!

anyway back to Oscar. one of the things that makes him so remarkable is that he only cost $100. another, he is in very good condition(just guessing maybe 20-30 tanks)

after this video was shot Oscar was given some minor tuning by JT78 who seemed to work magic with the screwdriver all day and REALLY came alive. i wish i had a video of it because it was most impressive.

Hey Mustang Steve me since some sabotage. I think JT put some of that orange saw voodoo on that chain when he filed it. When it nicked you he was safe. He may have done this for fear of after he filed her the 2000 green monster would whoop up on his 395xp. What about it, it sounds like a planned thing to me.(HA HA)

I think you're right, Possum. He probably won't show up at the next GTG 'cuz he knows I'll be gunnin' for him...with the "green monster" of course. :chainsaw:

The finger will be OK in a day or two. Thanks for the thought.

I'll take both of those sprockets. PM me a total and I'll send you a money order.

Thanks,

Steve

I think Possum lied about Lil' Possum's age. Said he was 19. Looks more like 35 to me. I think we need to call him Big Possum. LOL

Seriously thinking about that muffler mod. I have a new reason to hang on to all these saws. Was thinking about selling a few of them. This is turning into a cool sport! :)

Wonder if JT can port a 361? He'd prob'ly sabotage it for sure.

Haha, no lil possum about Zachary, that is a big ole boy. If he didn't win the race he could stomp ya butt and throw ya in the ditch.:lifter:
