No, I am not drinking it but I switched to 93 octane/Ultra about a yr ago and now whenever I run the saw I get this weird taste in my mouth that hangs with me for a while. Yes, I probably am a mouth breathing cretin but in this weather I'm dripping too bad to breathe thru my nose and have never mastered doing so thru my ears

I was doing fall cleanups with a friend of mine and he was running ultra in his blower. That stuff smells like an electrical fire... Had me pretty paranoid...

Yeah my dad swiped some of my hp ultra mix for his mower.i got to hear him ***** for a week because it made his eyes burn.

Don't know why some of you are having so many issues with the smell of certain oils. None have ever bothered me in the least, and I've pretty much tried um all at one point or another during my 52+ yrs. messing with two-strokes.
Perhaps you have a good ventilation system in your garage.

Just because YOU haven't had headaches doesn't mean someone else hasn't....i know i get them from Ultra.

I noticed that it smelled sort of like burning plastic, as soon as I fired up the first tankful.
But as I was mainly using it in the weedbeater and not trying to keep the wind at my back
the way the leaf blower needs ( lot of willow oak leaves here)
It took a while to get caught in a really light tailwind with the blower.
I had always figured the mild headache and twinge of nausea was just me not tolerating the heat and humidity worth a crap and just was simply getting worse with age.

Upon getting in a light, slow tailwind while running the backpack blower, I had a few times of being in vortex full of the exhaust plume (those willow leaves again).
When It made me stop and go take a (rather pricey) migraine tablet on a couple of occasions,
I started asking myself some hard questions about what else was different, besides the number of candles on my birthday cakes.
Switched over to the Red Armor oil and headaches & nausea went away after a running things long enough to purge the crankcases, ring groves & mufflers.

Figured that was simple enough of an answer.

edit: to add mower comments.
While questioning things I also realized that 3~4.5 hrs of running the push mower alone, in the worst heat, didn't make me feel anywhere near as sick. Yet 25~30 mins of pre-mow cleanup
of the early season leaves using the blower did.
I ran the oil for most of the summer (stubbornness. What can I say..).
Got to always look at ALL of the correlated factors, when troubleshooting a situation.
And that needs to include myself. Both mind and body.

Beer makes the weird taste go away

I've been using Royal Purple full synthetic for over a year.
The saws run better, hardly any smoke, and no headaches or funny taste.
However ... it does have a unique smell compared to the regular oils.
The only reason I tried it was we were out on a job and that was all the auto parts store had that day

Count me in the group that has gotten headaches after running with HP Ultra in the mix. I will be switching over to Royal Purple, AMSOIL or Lucas after reading of other experiences with the "grey bottle".
