Guess I missed a minor edit before posting my response...

Any chance the screw holding the tab to the knob isn't tight?

Just thinkin' out loud now...

Could pull one of mine out for a comparison looksee later if no one else chimes in first.

Good thought. I just checked it and it's tight. No slippage there. I just measured the difference between the barb on the lever and the slot in the shutter and there is about .030" play which is not what I felt. I think only the the lever tip may be engaging. Maybe the shutter is supposed to have a step in it? I wonder if it's off a Micro or something.
Certainly no rush but if you do get a chance, have a look and see if the shutter on yours looks like that one. Something isn't right and it may be me.

Thanks for checking and taking the pics. I just bent the lever down a bit to match the micro lever and it's working fine now.

I figured it might be something like that. The saw must have been running pretty rich for some period of time.

Had a chance to get a 3400 bowsaw but for $110.00 and ya had to buy a Lil Mac trim saw that was shot, I said now way, the guy won't take $50.00 on the Poulan buy itself. Didn't want the boat anchor.

S25DA. I saw one in a pawn shop and I started thinking I more nearly needed a smaller saw than another medium-large saw (Dolmar 120s, with broken fuel tank). I think I may already have two of these S25D/DA in different colors. A Craftsman 2.0 10 in. model 358.352010 (red), and a Wright CounterVibe (orange) (I haven't found a model number on it, but acresinteernet indicates a 122CVA is built by Poulan based on the S25CVA. I have had these saws for years and they have been non-running for several of those. I know they both use the same carburetor. Either one would run with swapping one carb between them until that quit working too. I probably need two carb kits and fuel lines by now. Do I still need to go look at that S25DA?

I need to sell a saw and it's going to be either the 3400 or the 3800, both are equally nice and both have a muff mod and 20" b/c. Which would you guys keep and which would you sell?
