ya know man, crazy and cool go hand in hand. i have to work with you in the future lol just please be ready for my chain to school yours. i am willing to show you exactly what square file entails. with the technique i have developed it really is no harder then round. even if mopars schools mine, mine will surely school yours lol no disrespect, i just spent alot of time on chain. i invite you to my house for a few day vacation Jamie. all meals paid for. i'm sorry though, to keep the wife happy you will have to sleep in the shop. it is geothermal heated and just as comfortable as the house. i sleep in there from time to time lol.

I think a self feed is fair but I'm going to be chomping, definitely going to need a heavy bar. it's certainly has more limitations that square. It will be more typical of a thinning/spacing work chain. thats NOT how I would file for proper use of the dogs (Falling) what is a typical saw you may use?

Ohio LoPro deadline is the chain must arrive to Cut4fun by 20:00 (Local: EMT) on 17 Dec.
I would suggest that we wager on the next .375 race ............ as Cut4fun is only running a small, stock saw for his event (IIRC 34cc unported)
I leave that up to you Sir.

The wood that was run last in the last chain race was 14" octagonal Hackberry, 15" square Pine, and some of the finest knotted scrounge that Hedge could find.
I have no idea what he will decide to run this year, but there is usually several forum dudes timing him and he runs all the chains himself.
He calls it like it is, and aint afraid to lean if needed

I do hope to see you get into the square filing though. To me, that is the whole point of having a chain-off. Get the guys involved and have fun.

I have found that a good squared up work chain (RS) can last pretty good. Here is a picture of the beginning cuts on my 3rd tank of fuel in my 661 with some 23" DBH Maple

Last I checked, lack of interest was a good reason not to participate in something. Is there some kind of new order you wrote that changes this? Lol

i've tried to cut with some of the older guys. they be real good at making every step count. i be running from stump to stump and still can't beat them lol. i've been watching though. it crazy how they don't seem to move fast at all but they get the wood on the ground. i'll get there eventually. no living room cutting for this guy. been building saws getting ready for the first week of January. got one more 385 to finish up and an 090 i'm sick of looking at. gonna get that one done tomorrow i figure. i'm actually supposed to be taking a break from AS. notifications keep luring me in though lol. we'll meet up and you can try my chain then if you really want to. my grandfather fell for 35 years and prizes his round filed. his round can't touch my square and even he will tell you that. we did a bunch of work to the local golf course 2 months ago and he told me the little 562 with the square LGX felt like a little light saber.
