The guy probably would not care if you traded him a running saw for his non running saw, just sayin.
Last year I sold one of my 3700's to some guy I met at the local Stihl dealer. This guy knows almost nothing so he's always calling me for help. This week he dropped off saw saying it wouldn't start, which it wouldn't. Pulled carb and found a dried white substance in the metering side. Only guess is that it was condensation or water. In process of USCing it. Decided to check compression and was surprised to see 180. Did a pressure/vac test and vac test failed. on a hunch I replaced the clutch side seal. Will recheck today. Question: while pressure /vac testing the fuel tank I noticed that when releasing pressure a little fuel sucked back up the pressure pump line. Tank was empty. MIght this indicate a blocked filter? IN hindsight I should have sold him one of my other 3700's and kept this one. Wonder if I switched P& C's the guy would know? Kidding of course.
That's what I would do Red. I would tell em all the things u found wrong, and offer him a running saw in exchange for his.with him seeing the worm involved with fixing his, no doubt he will take the running saw.

I did the muffler mod myself. It is 3 pieces of 1/2 inch EMT welded together.
EMT extruded metal tuneing? Just checking... The burnner I made turned out awesome. I can slow cook at a constant 280 or cremate don't know how hot guage stopped at 650 but it hit that mark in just a couple of min. If it is like the last one I made it will hold a 900. Lol I know that 500 is more than hot enough. I just think its cool.

Did u braze or torch weld that? Or MIG weld. Looks like brass would be the easiest way to go. I'm thinking flux coated brass brazeing rod.

The EMT is electro metallic tubing or electrical conduit. I used a MIG on it and the used a burr to grind it down some to make it look better.
I have heard of people using silver solder but every thing has to be very clean when you do. I have never tried silver solder myself.

Well I replaced the seals, rebuilt the carb, fuel filter and replaced the half throttle lock . Runs fine now with great compression. Guess I'll charge him for parts

Half the fun, for me at least, is looking.

There are lots of hidden homeowner specials out there. Just be prepared to build lots of shelving if you keep looking.
Yes I'm starting to need more space. One reason I'm looking a mill saw. I want at least a 60cc.

Didn't get the 3500.

These 60cc saws are no milling saws. Just be warned.

They are not what you want in a milling saw.

I was running this Pp365 yesterday and I would sell it. But would not sell it to someone knowing they are wanting to mill with it. Milling saw it is not. I would save you the frustration of trying that as a seller.

All 3 60cc

Tell me what I should use. I need something that's not gonna cost me a fortune. Most of the time all I feel in my pocket is my leg. Considering selling some of my other saws for something bigger.

Know anything about a timberpro saw?

I agree with all of the comments above.
Milling is 70cc minimum territory, and that's still just in smaller stuff.
You can find older 181/281 huskys that'll be better suited for it, a 60cc saw just isn't made for that kind of load.
Big, older stihls pop up fairly often (056, etc) and have the torque you'd need.
While 4200/5200 series Poulans are great for the job too, I'd hesitate to use one simply because top ends don't exist for them.

About a month ago, had a dead tree come down in line fence row, in one of the many high wind days we had this spring. Was gonna clean it up and though that it had Poulan 3000 written all over it! First time I have used this saw. Ran fantastic! Must be because I painted the muffler!!! :D Was going to just clean it up, then decided I might as well save some of it for fire wood. So went back and got the trailer. I would have to say that this 3000 & my Partner 500 are a dead nuts tie in there power and ease of use. I like them both for light duty work. Took these pics with my phone...but I guess they came out good enough.

Gregg,

Real nice Gregg! I can't wait to get out and actually stretch the legs on mine this spring/summer!

Only thing I been cutting lately. = bad for chains when you hit those unseen nails. :D

Pulled down the ole 2 car garage and slowly making BIG bonfires on nice days.

2 walls cut up and both gables cut and burned. Working on the roof sections and down to cutting the trusses apart now.

I agree 100% with echoshawn!!!! I have done some milling on & off. I use a Husky 385xp (85cc). I would not want to use anything smaller!! Ain't saying it can't be done, it would be a chore. People don't realize just how much power, oiling capability, heat stress etc. involved with long extended cuts with a chainsaw. Thats even more so when milling hard woods. Here is a pic or two of my out fit. I was milling square cants from Basswood for one of our GTG's .

Gregg,

Know anything about a timberpro saw?
Chinese knockoff of something...
Probably wouldn't last long enough to mill up one log.
Their aftermarket parts are coming along in quality at least.
I remember the $35 earthquake days. That was about all I was willing to spend on a no-name Chinese saw.
