If I had to choose only one saw, it would be the hydraulic saw on the end of the 8 ft stick. And the 8 ton bucket truck to power it.

STIHL KICKs Wow quit. If it was a major step down I could see it. You husky guys have driven me to say this from all your trash talk. I used to think maybe I would get one but now ill just say HUSKY DROOLS STIHL RULES.
Yep it is the most worked on saw that is why everyone that
buys them always is worried about dealer service cause they know
they will be needing a fix.

Well you make a point maybe I would help design
a saw for them so I could get work out of it instead of on it!
My main beef with them is the bs choke switch, cheap flippy gas caps etc. I don't want gadgets I want a saw.

kind of like the toggle kill switch that will go out on you in the middle of the woods====can't kill the saw....or worse yet.....saw won't start.....real pita....blow a sprocket in the woods on my 660 go back up to the truck and i can put one on....on the 395's i run...pull the spark plug, put a rope in the spark plug hole as a piston stop, a breaker bar, bash my knuckles.....oooooo finally got the sprocket off...now im so pissed.....WHAT DID I TAKE THE CLUTCH OFF FOR?!?!?!!? :chainsawguy: that is granted that i have all of this with me in the truck and didn't leave it in the shop...or sh*t i broke a motor mount 1/2 a mile from the truck on my husky.......now what are you options then??? you walk out of the woods with it and fix the darn motormount before you break the other ones....if u don't change it, it is quite hard to cut straight. not to mention just about all the husky woods saws ive ever seen vibrate themselves loose....i.e vibrate bolts out of themselves. and not to mention of handle/fuels tanks that have a seal in the bottom of them that have a tendency to leak. sure they have a good airfilter system, bet i bet your local LOWES/HOME DEPOT/NORTHERN TOOL/ laundry mat, tire and lube express center, burger joint, tackle shop, and liquor store won't have an air filter for a 385 when u walk in..

just some food for thought, btw.....husky and stihl are both great saws.

Have the same sprocket my saw came with four year
ago I change rings not sprocket a simple clip. Now breaking motor
mounts what the heck are you doing to your saw to do that? I have
experienced screws vibrating out on every maker but I use thread locker
and set up my saw so I dont have to walk out of woods.

I use them, every day for many hours.....end of story

u have the same drive sprocket on the saw for 4 years(not spending much time in the woods).....they might last me a month....maybe...

That's 'cos you haven't used a Stihl less then 18 years old -High strength Torx WITH integral back grips solved that problem for Stihl's a long time ago...

I would be willing to bet my saw has cut as much as any saw you have with same years on it. I run a professional tree service and maintain my own equipment and work daylight to dark when work is there. You may not be keeping a sharp enough chain and wearing your sprocket prematurely that would be a reason for motor mount issues as well.

ok if u want to play lil kid games and compare swords....the only one that i know of for sure is my 660 that is 2 1/2 months old...and it has cut between 450,000-500,000 bft. and i haven't used it the last 2 weeks because ive been running the 460 that i built...but i do know that ive cut over 1,000,000 bft this year in between my 066/660/460. and if i remember correcty i think ive went through about 50 gallons of bar oil since june

Done playing childish games......if u cut more than me/as much as me/less than me, i really don't give a sh*t....

o yea...and to add to that i think ive cut somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-60 semi loads of pulp/firewood

Stihl saws are the best of what we have owned. Previous saws are Husky and Jonsered still used, but the new Stihl is preferred by everybody in family.
Despite the rough day after purchasing the saw have not had 1 problem since then.:chainsawguy:

I love that switch...

so.... been a long time since you used a Stihl..;) .

and u know what it takes to replace it.......one top half handle cover bolt, remove air filter cover and air filter, inner air filter baffle..2-aluminum intake bolts, pull of the two wires. and one screw on the side that holds the hole assembly in. you would have that many screws to take off the get the top cover off of a husky...

(pretty sure i got all that right-flying by the seat of my pants...haven't had one aparts sice sunday)

I don't have to never had to replace one
on any husky yet but if I did it is way easier than what you just described
for the stihl.
