You know when someone says 'they don't make 'em like that anymore'?

Or when a new model comes out, people justify the current model?

Well, I was wondering what a general production run is (years) for some Stihl or Husqvarna saws. Some current models are 4-5 years on the market, how long does each company keep making their pro line saws?

That is a question that IMO, that has too many factors and variables to answer.
*
Research and development
Consumer demand estimate
Epa regulations testing & certification
Building dies and casting templates
Replacement parts production
Create and catalog part numbers
Introduce IPL's
Develop technical repair manuals
What older model will be replaced
Etc,etc....

I think what I meant was, when does a current model get a successor?

What brought about the move from the Husqvarna 346 to the 550? EPA? Power availability? Was it a regular cycle of releasing a new saw every __ years?

A Ford Fusion is updated every __ years, what's the lifespan of current models? Is it a regular 5-7 years?
