I am a homeowner with a tree question. I have an eight(8) year old oak, I think a pin oak that my son planted and it is about 30 ft tall now. It has had all of its leaves turn brown in the last 6 weeks and there is a very large red/brown mushroom growing at the base of it. Is there any hope or is it too late? Any help would be appreciated, because it is the main tree in my yard. It has withstood some really dry weather here in Houston, but last year was really hot.

See if you can get some pictures of the leaves, trunk, whole tree, mushroom, etc.

Marylin,

As mentioned, a photo goes a long way to helping ID what problem you might be having...
