Yard tree? or found it in the forest? I don't think we have a ton of hardwood growing in BC. Could it be fir or something thats dried out? That stuff gets real hard when its dry.

The acid ring (white area just beneath the bark) almost looks like it could be walnut or butternut but I'm sticking with locust. I don't think fir would have the acid ring.

Went and saw the neighbour and grabbed some dried pods from the branches to better I.D. it. Black Locust. Never paid much attention to it. I thought it was an invasive looking tree of some sorts.
I am not used to cutting wood of this hardness. It feels like rock.
Yard tree from the neighbour. The only hardwood I get around here is when the fruit growers are cleaning out Apple or Cherry. Good stuff, all knotty and pruned. Apple is exceptional. The wood squeals and reports loudly when you take the hydraulics to it. I have only seen one, spindly little pocket of Birch out in the hills here. Just not the right conditions for it. Larch and Doug rings are pretty tight with the lack of precipitation. They do dry out pretty hard. My preferred fuel.

Saw & Firewood HACK
Did some tree work for a friend, about 1/2 day worth. When we got done loading the wood and cleaning up the mess we sat down for a break and some refreshments. My buddy gets up & walks over to his machine shed and comes back with this in his hand. Gave it to me as he has no use for it. Got it home and put it on the shelf till I had time to look at it (been a couple years). Pulled it down last weekend and opened up the case and found this little jewel. Went through it; filters, hoses, rebuilt carb and oil pump, good cleaning and sharpen chain. Saw had original owners manual, warranty, users guide, Homelite file holder & file, spare bar and chain, Homelite screw driver & scrench and Homelite bar sprocket grease tool. Piston & cylinder are pristine. After working it over put a little mix in the carb and started on 1st pull. Smoke rolled out for a minute or two then cleaned right up. Seems to have a lot of snot for such a tiny (26cc) little saw. I think it's a keeper!!!

Just picked up a 9-23 that needs a new sprocket, can anyone tell me if Oregon Power Mate 14026 will fit the 9-23? Thanks!
I don't think so.
Look for one for the 9-23, 900D, 909D, 990D, 995D. These use a pressed in needle bearing. Seem to be scarcer all the time.
The 14026 on Ebay is a 6 spline drum, so you're limited to an 8 tooth .404 rim.

Part number 65018 for the gasket. That is the correct gasket. I have done away with the cylinder portion of the gasket on a couple that tolerated the clearance. Just used Motoseal or similar. I kept the top portion for the seal between the case and rear handle. Even if it is torn, it can be mended and reused there. Just a dust seal. In my experience, those cylinder gasket portions are baked on there well. Usually, they tear when I remove them. So, they are toasted anyway.

OK just picked up another SuperXLAO without the oiler button.
All my others have the same Tillotson carb, this one has the SDC-62. Are the carbs interchangeable between the Super XL's Red & Blue and XL-12's?
I know the internals are definitely different and need different rebuild kits.

Are you still shooting Wed nights? I was thinking of making the trip a week this coming Wednesday. I'll need to know if I can use 3-1/4 dram field loads.

OK a few questions here.
I now have another SuperXL Automatic without the button for the oiler. It has all the piping check valve and so on. I looked over a ton of schematics and can't find the button with the threaded retaining nut. My XL-12 has the button with the retaining nut but again no schematics with the retaining nut.
Any ideas what the part number could be for the button wit the retaining nut?

I have one Super XL Automatic with all the hardware less the plunger, it has a plug that is shown as an option in the schematic. So to add the plunger I would need the retaining nut. My XL-12 also has the plunger with the retaining nut but all the schematics don't show the nut.
I need a plunger for the one in the 2nd picture, it's broke and held in with a set screw above the throttle.
I want to add a plunger to the one with all the piping and hardware but need one with the retaining nut.

The super2 has not been used in 20 yrs. And the other, the guy said something happened 15 yrs ago.
