Sure looks like an early SS to me. Here is a pic of one I used years ago when I did some work for a local farmer. See any similarities?

You don't think SS invented the idea to use "stored energy in fly wheels" to do that kind of work, do you???

I saw black smith/farmer converted old fly wheel powered tools, converted to split wood ect., back when I was a kid... (and that was a LONG time ago!)

Well, has anyone here homebuilt a kinetic splitter? Seems just to start with scrap flywheels ought to be scroungeable.

Flywheels are the hard parts to source.

Seems like you could make one out of a small square hay baler. And run it off a pto. Heck even use the kicker to pile it. Just weld a wedge in it. Could probably make a full on processor out of one.
