Same stroke.

So can I assume that if I decide to buy a replacement P&C I can buy a 066 top end and it will bolt on no mods???

Still waiting to find out what is in the box of parts.. Hoping for a good cylinder :monkey:

no it has to be evenly slotted on each hole for the bolts to line up, and may require clearancing the case:censored:

Slotted like the 038 av to 038 mag?????

Please tell me more of the clearance problem....

Been cleaning the cylinder out this morning...I should have taken before pic's...

The aluminum was coming off nicely then I saw what appears to be a small pin hole...:censored:

Is this thing worth continuing on??? What is the worst case if it all clean up nice and I run it with a pin hole????

stihlboy what you got to trade????? :jester:

what are you lookin for? i have stuff to trade pm me

use a 066 gasket as template. i would clearance for the squirt no matter what with the gasket kinda bolted in place so you dont take out to much material then put the gasket up against the cylinder mark where you need to make the bolts go.

whait im wrong use a 064 gasket against the 066 cylinder to slot the bolt holes maybe by a 066 base gasket to so you can clearance the 064 bottom end to clear the 54mm piston skirts

when i was thinking about doing the 440/046 i was thinking id fill the bottom end with rags and then clearance it with the bottom up side down that way 90 percent of the mtal saveings would go down. and the other 10 per would bounce of the rags then go down. and then flush it 10 times just to be sure.

So after sorting out all the offers I have received in my inbox I got to thinking this may be worth fixing...

<a href="http://s139.photobucket.com/albums/q301/southbound_bucket/stuff/?action=view&current=DSC03407.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q301/southbound_bucket/stuff/DSC03407.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

So I started tearing it down to do some closer looking...I think I found why the kill switch did not work. The yellow wire was not plugged into anything...
Is there a trick to get the carb off??? I got the nuts off and it wont budge....

The boot has black tape wrapped around it

<a href="http://s139.photobucket.com/albums/q301/southbound_bucket/stuff/?action=view&current=DSC03410.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q301/southbound_bucket/stuff/DSC03410.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

You can see the piston here. I will also need a plug wire..

I can't give the asking price for a OEM P&C for the 064. Still waiting to see whats in the box of parts....

That's a good idea may have to try it out....

I guess tomorrow I will wash up as much as I can

I took off the black tape from the boot and I cant find any holes...I guess last night when I was looking I mistook the over lapping of the tape to be a tear.....

The serial number will tell ya everything.Im sure its a o64 just not sure how old of one.

just wondering but didnt the earlly ones have a metall air filter cover?

No, they didn't.

Southbound- your saw is worth fixing. That pinhole is fine, just sand the cylinder out by hand real good and get all the piston residue off and you'll be fine. Start out with 220-240 and Liquid wrench and graduate to finer grits.

You should be able to find a good used intake boot off e-bay, and other parts you'll need. Ditch those homemade gaskets and clean everything up real good.

Nevermind the vultures here, they're always trying to get project saws. Make this one into a runner for you.
