i think they say that some have to be opend up fir the 54mm cylinder and some dont..

the aliminum showing around the exhaust im not sure about. can you borrow a inside micrometer and measure the bor and see what you have. it should be 53.8888 or so maybe right at 54

wooops i mean 51.8888

Evan is correct. Some 064 cases would fit the 54mm piston just fine and others need some trimming. I assume you're splitting the case halves and installing new bearings and seals?

So I will assume it is time to stop messing with that jug...

No I don't want to split it if I don't have too.. I feel no play in the crank. Everything seems as it should..

I was hoping I could drop the 54 P&C without having to grind on the case....

O and thanks folks for all the input thus far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stihlboy keeps mentioning he has 2 jugs, maybe he will part with one. It sure would be nice if you could get the old girl running. Good luck.

I hadn't thought of that lol..

I thought he was looking for a lower end....:monkey:

Did some general cleaning today...This way it does not make such a mess when I play with it....

I stuck it together so I could compare it to when I first got it...

I am still waiting to hear back about the box of parts.. He is being nice enough to give them to me I don't want to push him and p**s him off....

I think the jug will still clean up. I dont see anywhere that the plating is comming off.

You might want to take a chance with that jug and try a meteor piston. They are of good quality, but don't cost a bunch ($40 from Bailey's). If it runs and doesn't grenade, you lucked out. If it takes a ####, your out only $40 bucks and shipping.

I agree, the jug did not look too bad in the pics. I think theres a lot better chance you will have a good runner than not running at all.

So you think I should keep sanding?

There is still a deep line there...I can see where I have broken through the plating and I am into the aluminum around the exhaust...

take a closer pic, looks like it is transfer from the piston to me, but if you did really sand through its done, but you would have to sand for a long time. and very long time...

It had been reworked by the man I got it from..He remembers running a hone it it but no details...

the story is someone need doh sold him this in pieces in a box for $25

He did not think it would run or was worth anything so he put it together as cheap as he could...

If you don't know not to hit it hard you don't know...Most folks are telling me just to bore it out and get bigger rings...

Id bevel the port a bit, and get a meteor and run it, that damage at the port was likely caused by getting a little frisky with the acid.
