To get your friend's saw fixed for free, you and he should call the distributor
for your region, and raise hell, they will cave in eventually, to get the results you are after, you will have to bypass the local dealers.
It may not be morally right, but they will cave to get you to shut up and leave them alone.
I have found that to be the case almost with every brand.
