The thread the other day got some a little fired up on the Stihl flippy caps.

The question is if you were buying a new Stihl to have flippy caps or the old style screw in.

1. You bet, flippy caps are a da bomb

2. I like the old style screw in caps

3. Will the Packers win the Super Bowl

I would go flippy caps.

The MS660 is the first Stihl that I have owend that did not have flippy and I have already screwed up the oil cap as it is rounding out the slot and a hassle to open. I have not had issue with the flippy beyond me not making sure they are fully seated first.

Packers I am afraid are not going to win though. Just a gut feeling. they are doing qutie well for themselves. I would like to see them win:msp_thumbup:

The only "bomb" I see is this thread..!!!!!

If you have flippy caps...like 'em or not...you CAN'T change them out..!! Gotta live with 'em..!!

If you love flippy caps BUT have a screw-in cap model...CAN'T change it..!! Gotta live with 'em..!!

Not so, you can buy another brand of saw.

One of the reasons on my last purchase to go with a 346XP over a MS261 was the flippy caps and Saw Troll says you are a fool not to.:msp_tongue:

If all I had to be bothered about was flippy caps I'd be a happy guy ! I stand to be corrected but flippy caps arrived on the then new 200 T in 199? and I can say that the amount of times I've had a malfuction i.e. my fault has been about 12 times maybe a few more. Now as a man that makes his living putting timber on the ground and uses a lot of oil and mix that tells me something, keep your caps clean in particular the oil and pay attention ! it's easy if you don't like them don't buy them !!

Honestly? I probably prefer them. They are easier to operate with gloves, I don't need a scrench if I over-tighten them, and they don't chip and leak like the Husky caps tend to do. Either way, it's not a deal-breaker on any saw.

Yes you can so could you explain why Stihl is killing the other brands in sales, awwwwwwww must be those dayummm flippy caps, yup they tried to make them dummy proof but they had no idea someone was making better dummies,:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

BTW Sawtroll likes flippy caps, good try though, hehe

Flippy caps suck. I had a 460 and 440 and they leaked after about a year. I replaced them both and the new one on the 460 leaked more. I kept swapping them around between the saws to finally get it to not leak setting upright. I don't know if it was ethanol fuel making the o rings swell or what but that started my hatred for them. :potstir:

Husky is better saws but not better advertising. Stihl is the john deere of the chainsaw world.

Don't know what the problem is,i have never had dramas with them,i think not being able to see how much fuel is in a husky more of a problem that flippy caps.:msp_rolleyes:
