Seeking a Poulan 4200/Dayton 4z252/Craftsman 5.2 for sale ...:help:

Something like this one...?

This one is ugly but the 8500 is as close to Poulan perfection as one can achieve, unless you have the luck of the saw gods and can find a 6 cubic inch Poulan saw.

I have a 245A and a 306A that I bought new in the late seventies. Both lasted me til 08. If I could get parts for them I would rebuild.

This one is a keeper ... for someone. My second green saw in two weeks, the 99% metal 3400 Counter Vibe made in USA. But all those lime green ones are not-worth-a-dime junk right?

I really need to get a picture of all my 3400's together. Here are a couple of my bow saws:

There are a few more in here:

Nice collection Guido, looks like the green color doesn't bother you a bit!

Bought my first Poulan in 1979 (a '72 361) and then added a new 3400 in 1983 (still have both, but the 3400 is torn down due to a broken ring). I also bought a 2000, 2300 and PP236 new and probably have 45 Poulans of various descriptions, including 9 3400's.

starting the poulan search

I was just looking for this old thread I started a while ago and got to reading it. I am going to go on a search for 3400,4200,4900, 5200 5400, or an 8500 my question is if I could get any of these which is easy to get parts for and which one would you want to own?

The easiest is the 3400, then the 3800, then the 3700, then the 4200, then the rest. If you want a very nice 3400, some on here, including myself can hook up up with a nice one. If you're an east coaster, the bigger ones are harder to land in my experience.

Don't rule out the 3700 series either, just picked this one up tonight at a pawn shop. Sorry for the crappy picture.
