Can anyone tell me the main differences between the MS270 and the MS271 ?
I have a MS270 with a 20” bar. It was my step father’s. He gave it to me recently.
I remember him having the shop put a 20” bar on it when he bought it.
It has a FarmBoss bar on it now.

I can’t find any info on the 270. Only finding info on the 271.
Will the 270 run a 20” bar with little issues, or is the 20” too larger?
Are the Oilers the same on the 270 and 271?

Thanks everyone.

The MS 270 is the newer improved version with a stratified scavening engine, compared to the MS 270 with a traditional 2 stroke engine. Also the air filter has a pre-seperator for substantially longer air filter service life. Engine data is not that much different.
Displacement MS 270: 3.0cu in (49.6cm³), 2.6kW
Displacement MS 271: 3.06cu in. (50.2cm³), 2.6kW

Oil pumps are not the same between the MS 270 and 271. Max Output on the MS 270 is around 10cm³ per minute and, around 8cm³ per minute on the MS 271.
