If i recall correctly the 372 and the 2171 are the same saw-Husky and jonny red are owned by the same parent company. electrolux Both are good saws but lose out to the dolmar- I have not run a 441 but it seems to be loosing favor-among the 440 owners The dolmar is a great saw fast stong...

    Chain Saw Carry Case

7900 box I had one of those husky boxes so i cut out some of the inside and my 7900 fits with a 24 bar. I would imagine that the 660 is not too much bigger and if you modify the box a little you should be good to go. K

What chain and bar for 7900

nothing that long On my 7900: I run stihl chain I don't know if someone else makes it or not but it seems to hold up better than windsor or carlton. The bars I run are gb ti (from wojo) and a tsumara total super bar. I currently have no need for anything longer than 24" fwtw. Since...

What saw do you look forward to using???

880 I was at the shop the other day and really trying to figure out what I would do with that machine. I have no need for it and can not justify it in any way, yet my hand was still reaching for the AMEX. I managed to escape with some bar oil and mix, but it was close K

    Stihl Tachometers - Differences between?

what is the going rate? I looked at a tach at the shop on thursday and I was suprised to see that it was $120.00- I did not notice the model # beacuse I knew it was not in the price range. Bailey's tach for 1/2 the cost for saw tuning seems like a no brainer. Am i missing something? K

    Best firewood saw full stop.

I guess the difficulty with choosing which class of saw is that you won't know you needed the bigger saw until you own one. The revelation happens after you purchase your 2nd or 3rd saw. You will look at your full trailer-truck and then at your watch and say wow that was only 2 hours. It...

    skidding logs

it would have been more accurate if I said that I used a failed attempt at a notch to start my cut and basically expanded on the attempt. It feel safe and neat. When i saw the notch and cuts I thought about how to approach it. above it presented its own set of issues one side of the tree...

    skidding logs

Update Ok so the tree is on the ground!!. it turns out that the tree was 24" not 40 as I was first told and it was showing signs of rot with mushrooms growing on the outside. Worthless for lumber--2/3 the size I expected so we dropped and cut it up for firewood, to be spilt on site and...

    MS361 or MS440

the cuts I was making today were not a breeze with my 7900-so my assesment of the 440 making for a long day still stands. I own a 044- but do not use it much. my go to is always the 361 and 7900. I really feel that the 361 and 440 are close enough to be exchangeable and the right saw for...

    MS361 or MS440

after today... I spent the day in the woods with a 25" white oak and the 361-7900 combo. I don't think you are going to be happy with the 361. It was good enough and will continue to be ---but that oak put a hurt on the it. My 361 is modded and running a 20" bar full comp square at 14k...

    MS361 or MS440

361 is great... I have a 361-044-7900 The 361 is a great saw but if you are primarily cutting hardwood that is 20+ inches then you need the 440-(no longer made) you need the 441. You can pick up a used 440 but look really hard at it because of the popularity of the saw many have seen very...

    skidding logs

You might have nailied it I think sawyer bob got it, I will try to skid out 1/2 logs. I am also thinking about fashioning a cart of sorts- I have an old tow truck dually axle, that I imagine I could lash the log to at about 3/4 of the length and drive it out with the Bobcat...

    skidding logs

keep it as lumber is the first goal I would like to use it as lumber primarily-but if the removal becomes too difficult then I may just-go the fire wood route. I have to lay it out and see what will fit. Maybe I can take some pics this weekend and get some ideas. The tractor idea is...
