Been a while since I’ve posted on here, I’ve been getting into porting saws lately and just finished a silver tag open port 50 Rancher Does anyone have some advice on changes I could make to have it run faster if I did another one? I know it could use a bigger carb and a little transfer work...

Bought a ms170 in a pail completely torn apart, I've got it semi rebuilt and about 90% together but don't know where these parts go or how they go on

Wasn't able to get pictures while assembling the saw, got into work mode and got it done last night Went together nice, the hyway cover is a bit different color but fit nice

Can I hook the mityvac up to a truck while running to see the vacuum it pulls? Or should I get a dedicated vacuum gauge for doing that stuff

Looks like I'll replace it then, its cheap anyway :) Got a 266 mount but I'd have to drill a new hole for it to fit and even then I'd only have one screw on the muffler and one on the saw which wouldn't stabilize it well

I've always ran 32:1 in all my 2 strokes from motocross bikes to saws and never an issue with them

Is it okay that I run the 61 without the muffler bracket?

Have you played with your carb settings much?

Just wanted to note for anyone interested that if you order a hyway 372 piston it uses the two 1.2 mm rings, so if you buy cabers make sure it's not the 1.5 mm

Would it be worth putting a 266 top end on the 61? I have about a half dozen good cylinders so I'd just need to buy a piston

For the record a 460 is a POS lol it's fine for the odd firewood load but not anywhere near any pro 60 cc saw

I feel you want some back pressure still, more you open it the less torque you get but may gain horsepower, and a ton of noise, that's only my opinion though
