I'm not sure about the 041av, but I only payed 120 for my 041 super with a 30" b/c but it was also not running (just needed a carb kit, had 175psi compression)

Though I'm not familiar with those saws, everyone I cut with runs a 24" and up.
But I'm over here in central WA, my 041s sports a 30" bar. thou I'm usually cutting some decent sized Doug fir.

well sort of, if i need a rebuild i can just throw on a 44mm kit to get me by. but it would be nice if someone made to 48mm super kit xD found one company that makes a 48mm piston but no jug.
though im not too worried about that yet, it had 165psi compression cold so im probably good for...
Ahh thank you, all the pictures i saw online didn't really give me a good view of them or much information.
just trying to make sure my saw doesn't have any odd ball stuff in it, just picked it up the other day for my 2 saw firewood setup.
Wanted my mac PM650 as backup/loaner.
Guess ill do...
Took my 041s into work today to do a quick tear down/cleaning and noticed that the piston has a slight dome. Is this OEM? Or and old aftermarket piece? Also noticed that the jug was a mahle.
Anyone have some info on these?
Would ask the Google, but I'm arms deep in a differential overhaul at...
TY! i was actually already looking at the cross pistons in case it needed one. and ive noticed the lack of parts availability, but hopefully it wont need it wont need much past a carb kit to get it running.
Just picked this up for $120, came with a brand new chain(30" bar),
gave it a few pulls and it feels like its got some solid compression.
Going to try and get it running tomorrow, anything i should know about these old saw? did i do good? lol.
any of the site sponsers would probably be a good place to start, or if you have any local saw shops id try there too.
i just went to one of my local shops when i needed one for my PM650.
Hey AS friends if any of you are in central WA. Can you please keep a look out for a stihl ms170.
Mine got stolen from me in gleed(Just outside of Yakima towards naches) between Saturday and Monday. But I suspect Monday because I was home all day Sunday.
I know it's not an expensive saw, but...
Traded my coworker about 1/3 cord of some rotted wood for this, only cut about 20 cord since new.
175 psi of compression, advanced the timing and did a conservative port/polish job on it and threw on a 28inch bar.
Pulls hard in big Doug fir, can't complain.
