2 Way splitter design stage w/ Solid Works

Don't believe the video, just listen to the owners. The design is proven, debris is not an issue, power is more than enough to cut wood that won't split and it's output is unmatched. Call split-fire and ask about a rental, lots of good ideas to be had from looking at one.

2 Way splitter design stage w/ Solid Works

Look at split-fire.com. Far from a gimmick. I own the 9 hp model with 4-way wedge and log lift. Strength, power and light weight all in one design. Take it from an owner, you will be impressed.

    Tops

I will buy tops if they are close to home and are big enough to mess with. Also need to see how bad the skidders tore up the trails. Will the land owners let you pull the tops to a landing?

    Super Split?

Seems a little steep, but I wouldn't go without it.

    Super Split?

log lifter used to be $300. I've bought two of them. You will want it, it serves well as a work table and a lift.

    Super Split?

I bought my 290 from Matt, great to deal with. I wasn't sure if they would still sell direct.

    Super Split?

Split-fire sells thru some tractor dealers. Call them for locations.

    Super Split?

We run the 4-way all the time, even on huge blocks. Only time I take it off is for elm wood. It will split any size wood with the 4-way, just that elm is too stringy to quarter.

    Super Split?

I've had it for 5 years or so. Paid a little over $3k for it. It has split around 200 face cords each year with no problems. Only drawback with it is that you need 3 people to really use it up to potential. That said, my wife and I alone can easily run 6 face cord an hour thru it. With that...

    Super Split?

JerryNycomm I would recommend ordering your split-fire with the 4-way wedge if possible. More money, but it allows you to change back and forth to a 2-way very easily. If you get just the 2-way, there is no provision to add the 4-way later. I have a 290 with 4-way and log lifter. Really...

    Insert Dump Beds

That is exactly why it is in a 1985 truck.

    Insert Dump Beds

I use an easy dumper insert on an 85 chevy 3/4 ton with extra leaf springs. I added 2 foot sides and haul a full cord. Kinda heavy for a single wheel truck, but no problem for the dumper. Dumps that load with ease.

    Wood Beaver 1x37 Easy

I would try to keep the wood in the 13" and under range. Wood over that size really slows down production. The infeed will do it, but sometimes some manual work to get max sized wood thru the machine. We used a 10' section of roller conveyor by the infeed to increase log length and were able...

    Farmi 501

I use a Nokka grapple that mounts on the 3 pt hitch. Works great, don't have to get off the tractor to hook or unhook, but you have to get close to grab the tree. Also able to pick the butt end high off the ground to keep it clean. Makes tree tops and clear cuts much easier.

    Bright geen residue from ashes?

dead elm seems to produce greenish particles in my ashes. Kind of a granular substance.

    Fastest/most productive splitter

Unless you have lots of help, a commercial splitter will not gain you much production. I have one, and require at least 3 good men and conveyor or loader bucket to let it run all out. If you do have the help, they are the only way to go. We can produce a face cord of fireplace sized wood in...
