has anyone used a slip on 4 way for a speeco 22 ton. wedge on ram.

I read that people break it, but I just don't see how. I've TRIED. I push mine through every piece. Even straight up notches and crotches that it has no business going through. The backbone piece is a joke, but other than banging that back a few times, it hasn't failed yet. ac

has anyone used a slip on 4 way for a speeco 22 ton. wedge on ram.

I own one and use it a lot. The wings are short but generally i find it works ok. I use it through all sorts of wood. I basically just use it and keep splitting. Sometimes it doesn't fully split the wood on the sides. I just turn the log and hit it again. I've done tests back to back. The 4 way...

Firewood Pallets w/ Welded Wire or Field Fence?

I'd prefer to use field fence also as it seems significantly less expensive. Those cattle panels are $22 by me. Welded wire field fence is less than $1/ft. About 25% cheaper per pallet. Right now I need to add about 7 cord capacity to my rack system to get 2 years out stacked. That means I...

Firewood Pallets w/ Welded Wire or Field Fence?

It looks like both of you guys are using welded wire, cattle panels? Ever trying with cheaper field fence? Cantoo, Are yours even secured to the pallets? ac

Firewood Pallets w/ Welded Wire or Field Fence?

I thought I remembered seeing pics of guys who made firewood containers from pallets and either welded wire or field fence. I was thinking about stapling leftover field fencing to pallets to make cages for firewood. I figure I can just tie the ends together to either make a cylinder or maybe...

Any body buying log truck loads of poles for firewood.

I have used the Dino Bag. Good product. In fact, I continue to use the one I have when I need to move wood that I stacked before starting the pallet boxes. I would venture to say you split at least 2 bags full in that pile.

Any body buying log truck loads of poles for firewood.

I have said all along I can split 1/2 cord in 45 mins working diligently. The crates are dimensioned as follows: 48" deep 42" high 36" wide 42 cubic feet. Hmm, I guess I was off on my measurement. Each is actually more like 1/3 cord! I actually split 2/3 of a cord in 45 mins...

Any body buying log truck loads of poles for firewood.

I split all hard woods. Generally I have a mix of ash, elm, oak and maples. Cuts are 18-20". I usually split so the backbone is 4-6". I work the splitter in horizontal mode 100%. Generally my rounds are 10" to 20" diameter. I usually split the round in 1/2 and put 1 half on the edge of the...

Any body buying log truck loads of poles for firewood.

You must be dilly-dally-ing. I run a 22 ton Huskee (el cheap from Tractor Supply). I do 1/2 cord every 45 mins (that's when the 1/4 gallon tank runs dry). That's not really hussling, but it certainly isn't slacking. The goal is for the splitter ram to never stop moving. If the ram is...

How much wood you go thur in a day.

I go through ~1/7 of 1/4 cord daily. LOL I have racks that are 1/4 cord. I go through 1 weekly on average in Northern NJ on a hill with a 2500 sq ft standard insulation ranch. ac

Any body buying log truck loads of poles for firewood.

In my area, cords of SPLIT wood can be had for $100 if bought in bulk (3+) and shopped around. Paying someone $100/cord for log length just sounds crazy to me. To go from logs to split wood costs a fair amount. Gas/oil/chain/maintenance for 1 cord is probably ~$10 all said and done? How...

    Confess your pickup glass mistakes

I wish I had a video of this one: Back in college I had a Toyota Tacoma. A buddy and I were loading it up to head to the scrap yard. We were scrapping a steel shed for some beer money. We were tossing stuff in the bed when my buddy grabbed what amounted to the "ridge beam" of the shed. He...

    Leaking Huskee Splitter

I plan on asking the shop if I can keep the old pump. I might try to see what I can do to repair it permanently in case the warranty replacement fails. 1st thing that comes to mind would be tapping it for a pipe thread fitting or a flareless o-ring fitting. ac

    Leaking Huskee Splitter

Eric is setting is all up. He is "paving the road". He told me if the shop wasn't responsive to him he wouldn't bother letting me deal with them and would just move to the next shop. If no shop met his standards of responsiveness, he would send the parts as a last resort. So far I am 100%...

    Leaking Huskee Splitter

I tried EMAIL. Got a "if you bought it in the last year, drop it off at this place 100 miles from your house and they will fix it when they get around to it and then you can pick it back up later, if you bought it more than a year ago...you need to buy a new pump". Think calling would be...

    Leaking Huskee Splitter

I'll have to check how loose the fitting is tonight. The repair looks easy enough. The worst part is going to be pulling the pump and dealing with the hydraulic fluid. I am sure I also need to get the pump/fitting CLEAN. ac

    Leaking Huskee Splitter

What I paid for it? I read on another forum that these should be press-fit. Apparently, I MIGHT be able to pull the fitting from the housing and re-press it using a pipe expander and some Loctite. ac

    Leaking Huskee Splitter

Leaks when in storage. I assume it is leaking during use, but I never bothered to check since I KNOW it leaks on my driveway when parked. ac
