I've been told the 034 Super makes more power than the 036 Pro, due to the Super having better port timing and flow.
Is there anything to this?

That is what I’ve heard... 034 Super supposedly had the best port timing, much like the early 044, 046, 064, and 066s, vs. their later counterparts. There’s probably more difference on a stock saw than on a ported one.
I've got a 036 with a ported 034s topend. It's runs good with a 20" and the Occasional 25.
My 034Super/036 was the strongest one he ever built. Just sayin’.Did he tell you that both were in the top 3 strongest ones hes ever ported??
034S vs 036 Cylinders.
Note the number of cooling fins also the different shape and size.

There are also open and closed port cylinders in the 034 range, though I'm not sure if the 034S had both....... There is also a belief that the early saws with the red master control switch had better cylinders / port timing, though this is unconfirmed.
Sounds good. That's probably around 8-10°. You'll know when it's to high, it'll start popping in the cut.
