My closest neighbor has an 044. We compared it to my 362. The 362 powerhead was physically wider, almost as long, and felt nearly as heavy as the 044. I have an OE 362.

We were quite surprised.

Progress.

So I vote 461, because that's what I was told was the best 70cc Stihl by a few good old sawhands I know.

I want one of those too.

The Stihl that has given me the most smiles to use is a ms200 followed by an 090. They are my top two stihls. This is biased tho by normally having an awesome view whilst using the 200, and felling a big bastard when using the 090....and usually making plenty of money whilst using either. In a sterile laboratory environment where it is just the saw on the table and the specs, it is an 038S. Fu***ng bomb proof tank

045/056, and having super/magnum on ‘em makes ‘em even better. But, the 048 still whups em. Once I put an 056 super top end on an 048, I'll have the ultimate Stihl.

Why not an 056 Mag II Top end.
You are fighting different strokes on the 048/056S hybrid....... get the bigger bore.
Of course leaving it as am 056 Mag II would be like 18cc bigger than the 048......and have the stinger muffler......but......whatever.
The 064/056 Mag II and 084/090 hybrids are sort of the way to go for badazz

Cause I don't have one that isn't HIGHLY modified (ie ported with removable cylinder head) that belongs on the 056 mag II chassis I have. BUT, it might solve the 36 vs 38 mm stroke. Does anyone on here know of a 52mm piston that is 2mm taller than a 045S/056 piston?

Nice enough....all your saws like that? Hey
No, only this one. It was a former alcohol race saw that I'm trying to turn into a felling saw. It was not done by Mr. Sneller, though I would enjoy a snellerized saw, it was actually done by Jon Rupley, a local legend. I have the cylinder head, it just isn't in the pic.

462 is a pound and a half lighter than the 461. Also much faster response with the new flywheels. Has autotune, but a guy on AS got a 462 from Greece with a carb that was tunable. The 500i will likely spank (like the monkey on big wood) them all though. I already want one.
