I was taking off a Piston for a member last night for a trade and while I was taking off one of the Circ Clips, POW off it went, took me a while to find the damm thing.
I guess I need better needle nose pliers?

    Anyway, is this common?

Yes sir. You are lucky you found it. I've heard them called jesus clips, because that is what you say when they take off to parts unknown.

I install em inside a large ziplock bag. Sounds goofy, but it can save ya lots of time and aggravation looking for a sproinged one. I also use the small, notched screwdriver approach vs. needle nose pliers. Learned that the hard way too!

If a piston has the clips on the left, I let em fly. They're getting replaced with the ones on the right. Haven't lost one of them bad boys..... YET

The ones with "ears" can pop out at high speed. Search past posts on this topic. Also there are installation tools that will enable you to insert the clip without damaging it and it is recommended that you use new clips.

Didn't know that. I'll have to do some digging around. I suppose it might be worth checking into turning almost 15k.....
