What kind for lubrication should go in the gear case ? I found a reference that 0 .18 pint is its capacity, but I do not know what lubrication to use in the transmission.
Also, there is an hole in the housing at the rear of the saw ( see photo). The opening provides access to a threaded opening in the starter assembly cup. What is that design feature is for ? I wonder if I could be missing a part that goes there, or if this feature was created for use by someone repairing the starter assembly to get the fly wheel to spin. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

SAE 140 gear oil. Attached is an owners manual that explains it and the level

Wow ! Thank you ! The manual will help me a great deal.
I did not see any reference in the manual to the hole in the handle at the rear of the saw. Do you happen to know its purpose ?

You insert a 1/4-20 bolt in the starter pulley and use it to wind up the spring, then replace the starter rope.
