As a rule no, but I've seen hungry deer and moose eat most species. I saw last week a sugar maple that a beaver felled and cleaned the branches from for food. They normally eat poplar. White pine has more serious problems than deer - blister rust and poor form when open grown. Consider Norway spruce or European Larch, particularly if you have loamy soil and plenty of Ribes (currents) species in the area. The ribes are the alternate host in the life cycle of the blister rust. Pine on sandy soil.
