You must have a strong 026 or a weak CS440. Last time I did timed cuts in oak
044 19sec
CS440 25 sec
Husky Rancher 55 30 sec I switched from 375 to 325 chain on the 55 now it's a little ahead of my CS440
Give that CS440 a little more fuel on the high and make it work a little. To little fuel on the high and it bogs easy. All of these saws run good, CS440 has a mild muffler mod. Steve

I stand by my comments in another thread. The CS440 is a pitiful excuse for a saw.
I've done timed tests in 10" cherry with my 346 and 5100. I won't bother you with the results but in 14" wood the 5100 could just about half those times. The 346 less than a 1/4th. The CS440 I didn't even bother as I got tired of holding the stop watch.

So you can cut a 14 inch cherry in 5 seconds and your 346 cuts twice as fast as your 5100s. Guess I'd like to se that. Steve

At the last Ohio GTG I made 2 cuts in 8" poplar in 4.62 secs. Another guy using my saw did it in about 4 secs flat. So one cut in cherry 10-14" should easily be had in 5 secs or less. But did you notice the 346 is ported. So yes the 5100 is slower but its stock. Still beats the heck out those other times I saw. A ported 346 is one mean hombre.

Why are you compairing a ported saw to a stock saw...............

timed cuts

I am not normally a guy that worries about timed cuts and the echo's do run nice enough, but when you are looking at that much time difference it is amazing.
after a day of cutting, the pile would be twice the size with the stihl....how many days of firewood cutting would it take to offset the cost difference between the saws, one or two?:dizzy:

You're not really comparing apples to apples. You either have to run both saws with either a 16" bar or 18" bar and, to be fair, the chains have to be the same as well. Either both RSC or 33LG. The validity of the test is compromised by both those factors. Don't forget same chain size and same number of sprocket teeth.

How about the fact he's comparing a 56cc saw with a 44cc saw....duh, the 026 will be faster, it's a 12cc bigger engine!

Hmmmmmm, Looks like Brad was disqualified? :monkey:

I hate to say this but echo chainsaws are nothing more than craftsmans that run.
Ahmen!

I know a 260 that outcut your 346
Heheheeh you got me there! Derek did much better with my saw.

The 5100 times in there kinda shows how it might have stacked up against the 440 and 026 in the 14" cherry cuts.

I'm not sure but I think it was just over 4 secs. Have to ask him, maybe he remembers.

A 56cc 026? Try 49cc for the early models and 50cc for the later ones.

Sorry, I had 029/290 on the brain. It's still not a fair comparison. The 260 will outcut a 250 for sure. But will a CS440 be outcut by a MS250? Hard to say, I bet it'd be close.
