Found this ad locally. Just wondering if this is a "real deal" or not. I'm considering buying them and trying to resell a couple if I can (at least this is the story the wife will here). You guys give me some quick opinions if you can. They look pretty decent in the pics. Thanks

The most powerful saw Husky made the 3120xp pro with 36" bar and 404 chisel tooth oregon chain. Bar has Roller tip saw and bar are in excellent shape. Couple that with a Husky 266 xp pro with a 24" roller tip bar with 3/8" chain and this saw is in excellent shape as well, scabard comes with this saw. Moving dont need these any longer.
Incredible pricing $750 for BOTH!!! The 3120 by itself is around $900 new! For a full price offer I'll throw in my old Sachs Dolmar model 143 with it's 42" roller tip bar for free!!!

Put $500 in your right pocket and the rest in your left.See how low you can get them.

your actually asking this question out loud......

get in your car now damn it man!!!!!!

Hush... take pity on the poor guy - his wife is watching the posts:greenchainsaw:

Hey, quit being a wimp - go get them now! She'll get over it, and if it takes while, you'll always have us for support.

I knew I could count on you guys and this is working out pretty good so far:cheers: I planted the seed last night to the wife about this deal and then when I got to work this morning and read the replies, I called her and read them to her. She's as excited as I am about the deal now. I love it when a plan comes together. Not necessarily that I wouldn't have done the deal anyway, but it is sure sweeter this way.

I called on the saws and talked to the guys wife that is selling them. He is calling me back tonight and I hope to finalize the deal. I appreciate all the offers to take one or more of them off my hands but I'll have to play with them and decide what to keep. The wife says she doubts if I'll get rid of any of them and that I'll need another shelving unit just for all the saws. Ya gotta love a woman like that.

Will the bars from the 266 and 3120 interchange with my 2100?? I sure hope so.

I'll keep you posted and if I disappear this afternoon, it means I just couldn't wait and had to take off early. I'm 48 years old and as giddy as a two year old on christmas morning. The effects of this disease is overwhelming :dizzy:

Update...disappointed and ticked off

Well, I took off work a half day early and drove 60 miles (one way) to look at these and even stopped by the bank for the cash planning to bring them home. I had talked to the guys wife and she didn't know much about them but said "they all run good". I got the 266 running and the only thing broke on it was the choke handle, but he was nice enough to put a screw in there so it would work (this saw was NOT in "excellent" shape) but it did run good. OH, the data plate said 266SE not 266XP but I couldn't find much of a difference in the two on Acres site.

The 143 didn't have a pull rope or chain on it so I couldn't check much on it. He told me later on the phone that he thinks it "needs a ring on the piston", that it "started having problems and probably needs rebuilt". Since he didn't give a condition on it in the add, I figured it was toast but what I didn't see was the "full price offer" he was referring to in the ad was the price he had at the top of the add which was $850. So, he is figuring the value of the toasted 143 is $100.

I couldn't get the 3120 to start. It didn't have much mix in it and there wasn't any laying around so I found something to use as a funnel and poured the mix out of the other ones into it. I pulled and pulled, messed with the compression release and pulled but not so much as a pop. I tried the primer and it didn't seem to be working right. Again, later on the phone he said "oh yea, that needs replacing but it is not very expensive". Again, the ad said "excellent" shape. I pulled the air cleaner cover and air cleaner and it was dirty but shouldn't have kept it from running.

I gave up on getting it started, figured it was probably just me not holding my tongue right. I was looking it over good and tried the chain brake, pulled on the chain and it turned, engaged the chain brake, pulled on the chain and it STILL turned. Hmmm, not good for a saw in "excellent" shape. He said later, "it worked 6 months ago when i used it".

I started talking about an offer and he cut me off with " I know what they are worth and I'm not giving them away". Right now his bottom line is $800 for all three. I will give him a little time and call him again. Anybody still want that 143??? How about this "deal" now???

My lesson learned is to not rush somewhere a half tank of gas away without talking to the guy first and take my tools and some mix with me when I go. Just my luck that it sounded too good to be true at face value. If things were "as advertised" it would have been a good deal and thanks for the quick responses to my initial question.

I've tried not to make this a total rant since I could have taken my time but if someone had been driving off with three cherries when I showed up, I would have been real upset.

Ya'll take care

Ya might just want to walk away.....

no harm telling him "hey not quite as described!!! so ill ofer you X" or if you still think its a good deal, do it

it might not be the best deal, but still a good deal

That's the best of the 3120's. Has the good carb (possibly H adjustment), high ignition limiter (or no limiter) and the "D" shape exhaust port. Probably a horse over what the new ones make. Did it have compression and spark? The rest is gravy after you have those two.

It felt like it had good compression. I pulled it with the compression release engaged and without. I could pull it without it being engaged but wouldn't want to do it all day. I didn't have my tools with me (my bad) so I couldn't pull the plug and check for spark. Didn't think about contacting the lead with a car key or something and pulling it over ( My dads old trick...here boy, hold onto this a minute). I never did get a pop though. Probably more fuel related.

pdql, this one has a primer pump bulb and as far as I could tell, no choke. I'm gonna try and attach a pic I took with my cell phone. If I remember right, the first two numbers in the serial number are the year of manufacture, so if that is true this one was made in 91. The serial number is 9100046. If that tells anyone anything, I'd appreciate the info.
