All of us that collect saws have either loaned saws or been asked to.
How did that turn out? I've decided it's much better on the nerves if you just give them one instead and forget about it. To sell one to a friend can be troublesome also or don't you fellas agree?

my 026 is currently loaded out to my moms soon to be husband. if it goes bad i trust him to make it right

BIL came over while I was at work and my wife gave one of my saws to him. I was worried but it came back fine. BIL is happy with me too. Good Inlaw relatiions I guess.

I once loaned a guy an 056S with a 28" bar and NEW chain. He brought it back when he said he would,it still ran fine, but when he said he had sharpened it....................I figured the chain was #*^%#@ and I was right.
Half the tooth had to be removed to get it back to nice again. Not his fault.............mine. I never said a word to him. I reasoned that no good would come of it.

I only lend to relatives and that is rarely, they get the homi 150, that way they cant to do anything to big/stupid, I let them know ill help with big stuff.

last week a relative (by marriage) cut down an oak tree at his parents house...he later said to me 'hey man, i gotta get this tree cut up, but i burned up my saw cuttin it down. can i borrow one of yous?' i changed the subject...quick

I haven't loaned a saw out either.
Always went over and cut up what needed myself!
And if I get-got lucky, at least got a 12-ver for doing it!

I let my brother borrow the farm boss I had to flush cut some big shrubs at his house. He takes as good or better care of equipment than I do.

Loaned a fantastic running 009 to my best friend...............his house burned down with my saw inside:cry:
He made it right and replaced the saw.

Loaned another to one of the maint. guys at work. Had a tree blow down on his house. I replaced the new chain on it with a well worn but really sharp one to be safe and it was a good thing I did.
The saw was fine when it came back but the chain was TRASHED!!!

There are very few people in this world that I would loan a saw and most of them are members on this site.

I have never, ever loaned out a saw. I have always went with them and did the work.

Gary

Hey Gary, there is a big half rotted standing oak leaning near my house. They hit it with a machine while building the house. Probably going to fall in the front yard, but you never know. Can I borrow one of your "saws" to cut it down?

There shouldn't be much metal in it. HA HA

Gary and I think a lot alike on the loaning of chainsaws, I would rather do the cutting and use a day or 2 of my time than lend a saw to most of my relatives or friends. I relented once and only once a few years back when a hurricane blew through here. I loaned out 3 saws with my gas and oil so what could happen, right. Well all three came back damaged, one a write off as a 30" + oak tree fell on it, another had the clutch torn out +the chain mangled, got jammed in a windfall, forced out. The third came back with a banana bar and a stud pulled out of the bar mount pad. Well ,I should have listened to my own rule but under the circumstances I relented and paid for it dearly. Never seen a cent for all the damage to the saws, just a lot of hollow promises to pay when they could BS.

a buddy needed to use a saw to cut up a downed tree as a favor to a mutual friend.

i came along and used the ms361 while he used the 026 with a loop of never used stihl rsc.

i saw sparks fly from the stone driveway we were cutting over. he said, "don't worry, i only hit the stones a couple times".
