Here is the results. Big end rod bearing failure.
Ewwwwwwwwwww just seen that. Thats a mere bearing failure there. Oil related, not likely. That thing looks like it never been overheated. Oil in the bottom clings to the parts unlike at the top. I would say that saw lost a bearing before it had time to fry. That explains why the top still looks good, he never got a chance to run it long enough to cook it..

Yes. I have a customer who was involved with Helicopter development. The knowledge he has shared with regards to bearings...well honestly more than I cared to know.
But it was very interesting to discover the differences in quality/ratings within a specific manufacture. From what I've been told FAG has several different quality/ratings available.

Could that bearing have failed from multiple uses with not having "enough"oil in the mix? And then adding the straight gas?

I would have him pour some of his mix in a clear bottle, then compare it with what you poured out of the saw.

Ok, boys. I just talked to him, asked him what kind of oil he uses, he said Echo mix, now I'm pretty sure that stuff is blue, but correct me if I'm wrong please, since I've never run it. I then said well, it looks like there is little to no oil in the mix, then he fessed up a tad, and said ya I thought that's what happened, so there is something here which they are not totally telling me. But he sounded like he felt kinda bad about it. ####ty that it let go, but nothing you can do. Doesn't sound like he'll fix it, should I offer him anything for it, I told him normally I don't pay for saws with that kind of damage, but in this case I could give him a little for it.

i had it happen on a dirt bike when switching from petroleum to belray happened 20 minutes later just the rod burned up.
I tend to be a softy and give people money for stuff they should pay me to haul away, just so ya know where my advice comes from.
That said, what your offer him, if anything, depends on if you want to make money on the saw. There is some value in parts, but just the trouble of selling them can take all the value there is. If you pay something for the saw you may not be able to make it worth your while. This is how I try to look at each saw. I still buy plenty just because they are a saw and I want it. lol

If I get it. I'll put a crank in it. Give it a better port job, and my buddy that has a tree service is looking for another 70cc saw, so it'll likely go to him. Now that I have a lathe, it'll get a mill, popup, and a little more done to the ports.

anybody besides me run any arco oil? It may be a regional thing cause its made here in the state but it dont add any color. Any how I run avigas and its blue anyway.

Ya, I know where your coming from. I'm not that nice LOL. When it comes to broken down saws, I have a nack of getting them for free, or dam close to it. I help people out in other ways.

I'll put my 2 pence in that low octane fuel hammered the bearings out from predetination or 'spark knock'.
If it was straight gassed the fuel was probably meant for the truck , not the saws. IE 87 octane, not 93 or better.

I will, but who the heck knows when I'll get to it??? My project list order keeps changing, who knows what's next??? Dolmar CT, 143, 119? 2 395 husky's, 051 Stihl? Lets see what else?? Now maybe 371? oh, and a couple 200t's.
The Dolmar CT can go on the back burner until I get this hotrod 084 done...
