I was just hoping I could get some re-assuring comments from you guys. I heard from both local stores “you can’t go wrong with either”. I got the Husqvarna 445 but I like the looks of the Sthill MS250. I have cut a few trees down and cut some firewood with it in the past week, no complaints, just looking for a few reassuring comments from the pros. Thanks in advance, Jake.

Nothing wrong with either one of those saws. Lots of stihl heads on here, husky guys too. Both companies make a lot of great saws.
I think you did fine.

Pay no attention to guys who say you need an 066 to cut anything bigger than a fencepost......they have CAD.

Welcome to AS.;)

Reassurance in what? Why do you need a pat on the back?

Get yer saws out and go cut wood... Who give a rip what saws they are. If you're happy... screw everybody else.

:)

Welcome to AS, Jake.

As a Walmart greeter, Gary still gots a few rough edges to smooth off. Course, he usually makes good sense, like he does in this case. :D :D :D

Have fun with the saw(s). If you hang around here long enough CAD (chainsaw acquisition disorder) will strike, and you'll be asking us to help you spend your money on saws you don't necessarily use, but will badly NEED. :)

Gary is RIGHT!!!!!!!!!
You need wood cut! Use what you have, and go cut the wood!!!!!!!!!!!
Now since you are here! You might as well start preparing the family for the addition of many more saws!! LOL!!!!!!

WELCOME ABOARD!!!!

I can see it happening allready!

Welcome! It is slippery slope!!!

Jake, I own the 445 and it is a cutting fool. Great anti vibration, good gas economy easy starting. what more could you ask for the price/Ken

Not a question what I need. It's I'm a lic profesional in a nother field and I value folks opinions on what they know is all. Thank you very much Ken.

Well I'm not a pro by any stretch of the imagination, but I bought the 450 for my uncle and I thought that it ran real well. The carb adjustments are a pain, but it runs and cuts well enough.

I can only guess that buy the high number of rebuilt 445's for sale on E-bay that there have been some problems with them, most likely lean seized pistons. I would pull the limiters on the carb and retune the saw until you hear that 4-cycle burble. Whether or not I am right, you can't hurt the saw doing this and you just might save yourself some future heartache.

Welcome! 445's are good saw's. I don't own one, but a good friend has one. I'm more of a fan of the 340. I've put soooo many hard hours on mine, and It has never done me wrong and I wouldn't trade it for any other saw.

PS: Stihl's are ok..........:D

I love my 445!!

I bought one a couple of months ago and she cuts great for a 45cc saw and it keeps getting stronger. After I put a few more hours on it, I plan on opening up the muffler a bit.

Just so you know, there are no limiter caps on this saw. You will need to buy the splined Poulan carb tool to adjust the carb and I highly recommend doing that before you run it too much.

you need an 066

i had to say it

it's all about what shiny plastic you like the best and remember not to treat it like a step child just because it's a good saw and it has a good name

For a little more he could of had the 346 NE . The 066 is way outdated and way to heavy. Air filtration sucks etc.. An ported 346 xp NE rocks using rocket fuel mixed 1000 to 1 so it doesn't carbon up and will out cut an old boat anchor 066 with a clogged up air cleaner. Maybe you need a 346 xp NE.
