When I delivered pizza, this really nice guy would allways give me 7 or 8 dollars for not more than a 25 dollar order. I allways noticed the Vietnam veteran license plate on his truck pulling in, and the small woodpile by his door. We made smalltalk on a few occasions and I asked him if he burned wood alot. He said yes, but couldn't do much on his own since suffering injuries in Vietnam.

So today I brought him a full load of wood he said will last him all winter. He has a small "pot belly stove" and I save him all of my short peices, mostly kindling to me, but a full winter of heat for him.

The guy is really a mechanical genious.

I'd like to find a person like that. We leave a lot of short and little stuff. Put a free ad in CL and I get the lazy ones looking for a free ride.

Rep sent for making his day and yours.

Good going ! Acts of kindness such as yours gives me faith that there are still good people out there.

That is a very nice thing you did for him . Rep sent, Remember what goes around comes around. Hopefully you get it back ten fold.

I've seen that when I delivered pizza. Those who don't have much are the ones that give the good tips. Those that live in $500,000 houses can't be bothered to tip the pizza guy. :monkey:

Rep coming your way! Thanks for making a difference where you can!

You did a good thing, I am sure if you spend some time talking to him. Sitting by his wood stove with coffee, you like me can learn a lot of thing.
I love talking to some of these old Veterans.
Great stories.

Good on ya OP. It is nice being able to give to those that actually deserve it.

My wife works for the county transportation system and I get to hear all the time about the non deserving people we support with our tax dollars and people that abuse the system. Our tax dollars pay for meth heads to get their daily dose of drugs along with reimbursement for the mileage for driving to their appointment but yet we have vets that get less or nothing at all in the way of support. I say it all the time and will keep saying it that our society is jacked, judicial system is even worse and I won't even get into politics.

Rep your way.

I think we'd both like that. The only thing really he owes me is a couple good war stories:)

Just be careful on what you ask?...My dad is a Vietman veteran that loves to hear thanks for your service and is proud to be a vet, but will not talk about the war...
