Some of us Westerners own limbing saws.......

I'm with you on that one! I would come help as well.

Think we could scrounge up enough saws bettween the 3 of us? :ices_rofl:

All you folks out west, look close at those trees and you will see why we need what are called "limbing" saws. :ices_rofl:

I want to see someone wade in and limb those with a MS440 and a 32" bar. :ices_rofl:

Ed, you may want to remove that pipe from the Wild Thing for those...

Well Mark.........out west here we have oaks that crown like that (and worse.......the crowns are broader and the limbs are huge, 'crankshaft' shaped bastards). Putting them down is the quick part (although it can get scary quick, as most of the oaks that big and old are rotton shells at the trunk). Limbing those dirty buggers takes forever............:censored:

When u drop them we gotta have some picks of you 'working'!:laugh:

I'd head up that way to help too but those four legged deer need thinned out around here.

Ask if the farmer has a brush rake for his FEL, or can borrow one.
He's gonna be ticked from all the crap left behind if he can't, and a spring rake drag wont get all of it.
Best to skid the limbs out of the field and skin 'em and buck them there if he dosn't.

You're gonna be ass deep in thumb dia. crap in no time on that one, and tripping over the garbage if ya don't skid out the crown to the margins to buck up. On the edge there in the grass is perfect for that. The state or county will be along with the chopper in the spring.;)

There is nothing worse than finishing up a field and having it perfect, then having a bunch of sticks and twigs getting jammed in the grain drill or planter rig. I have seen God fearing, church going, gentle as a Lamb old time farmers go into raging homicidal fits when that sort of thing happens and it's best not to be connected with them sticks in any fashion for a LOOOONG time.;)

When ya take 'em down, take some pics of the felling method used.
I got an Idea of how I would approach it, but can't see everything in 2D.
It will be interesting to see how ya did it and why.

If you weren't so dadgum far I'd love to give ya a hand. That one is going to be fun!

Stay safe!
